Ignite upgrade - The first six months

FredGarvin
I plan to stick around

I made the leap on May 3rd this year (2024) so I thought would show off the first six months performance up until October 25th.

As I work from home so I speed test every morning to six sites using PC embedded SpeedTest and three sites with the browser based version.  My results definitely show why you want to used the embedded speed test.

I test three runs and chart the highest and lowest (lowest since June 7th when I thought it would interesting to compare how bad some results can get).Max valuesMax valuesMin valuesMin values

The gray line is the morning after some scheduled area maintenance work had been done on October 24th.

Other than a few 5 to 10 minute dropouts I didn't notice anything (also didn't speed test until the next day) from the maintenance.

My thought is that after the service something told my XB7 that I'm on a 1 gig plan instead of a 1.5 gig unless is only handled at the central station.  I post about this separately.

Don't let the recent hiccup deter you from upgrading.

Speeds have been excellent with no issues on the TV or home phone.

The caveat - I am using hardwired Ethernet, no wifi other than when I have to use the Xfinity app to speed test the XB7. Currently the app does not work since the maintenance work in my area, doubt that it is related but that was the first I'd used it in a couple of months when it was the Ignite app. For now it times out after a minute or so saying "Gateway speed test isn't available right now".
