Anyone having issues with IoT devices after the weekend?

ultrasuperman
I'm here a lot

I have a smart AC unit and it was working just fine until the weekend. I have the ignite modem and I suspect there was a firmware update over the weekend as I had to reboot a few times. The AC unit was working fine where I could control it from my phone but come Monday I noticed my phone couldn't connect. I reconnected the AC unit to the wifi and I noticed it would work for a minute then the phone wouldn't connect.

I used my IT troubleshooting and found out its not the AC unit because if I turn my laptop into a hotspot everything works 100%. I put everything back on the modem and I can see the AC unit is connected to the modem but something is blocking connections to it. I tried network logging and I can see the AC unit on the network but nothing can get through to it. I tried truing off the firewall and everything but I just can't get a connection.

I'm thinking there was a firmware update that broke the protocol so I'm just wondering if anyone here has a similar issue or might know something to try?

Hello, @ultrasuperman

Welcome to the Rogers Community Forums!

We appreciate you posting your concern to the community. Did you have band steering enabled before this weekend or did you have a separate network for the 2.4G and 5G networks?

If there is a setting that is affecting the connectivity to your AC unit you can try a factory reset of the modem which would revert the settings to the factory default. You can then setup the same Wi-Fi network name and password as you have now so your devices will connect automatically. You can find the steps on how to factory reset your modem here.

Let us know if issues are persistent
