No View of the Lobby

I plan to stick around

I recently switched from non-Ignite Rogers to Rogers Ignite - TV Only (my PVR was dying).  On the old system I could see the lobby of my building on channel 988.  Ignite doesn't seem to have a channel 988.  If I speak the command "Lobby camera" I get the message "We're having trouble opening this app. Please give us a few minutes then try again.  APPS-04154".

The Ignite system uses the same cable as the old system, so the channel is available.  Why can't I see it?

@hrmckay  You may still be connecting to the same coax but with Ignite TV, the channels are delivered over your Internet connection using different technology.  The Ignite TV receiver is unable to access the lobby channel that you were previously able to tune to with Digital TV.

Have you checked with your building management to see if there is another way to access the lobby camera feed (e.g. through a web browser) or if they are working with Rogers to provide the lobby camera feed through an Ignite TV app?

I've been around

I don't like the sounds of this, have you straightened it out yet?  They have been bugging us to switch to ignite, claiming our PVR is outdated (as usual) & they only have refurbished pvrs left. So, now you are saying that if we switch to ignite, we LOSE the lobby viewing ? This really sucks. 😞

This depends on many factors and there is no single answer to your question, other than to ask the building (MDU) management.  Is the building changing to IgniteTV?  How is the lobby camera signal currently delivered?  For example, it may be possible to view the camera via an app or via the internet...

There are way too many options to discuss and you really need to address this with your building management since each building will be different.  It may be that you lose the lobby camera, but not necessarily.  See the previous post by @-G- .

I lost access to my apartment lobby camera when I switched to Ignite in March.  I had to switch, my PVR was dying,  On the PVR I could see the lobby on channel 988.  On Ignite when I type in 988 it shows me channel 189 for some reason.  If I use the voice command "Lobby Camera" I get the error message "APPS-04154 We are having trouble opening this app.  Please give us a few minutes they try again".  Waiting a few minutes doesn't fix it.  I checked with building management and the lobby camera is plugged into the Rogers server (or whatever they call it).

This seems to me to be a Rogers problem, either they have not installed the Lobby camera app, or they haven't configured it properly.

Sorry, nobody gets the lobby channel on Ignite-TV. It is gone. No sure if any lobby stream can insert itself into IPTV, but I doubt it.

Step 1: Attach Rogers signal coax to your TV set.

Step 2: Pray that your TV can find the feed.
