internal lock on my account because of a debt from 2007 that isn’t mine

Mstrishamc
I've been around

Hello! I’ve been with rogers now for 7 years. This was my first and only rogers account. It is in good standing, paid every month, I have two cell phone lines, an iPad and smart home monitoring. Everything was fine on my account up until about 2 years ago. All of a sudden I have an interlock lock on my account. I can’t upgrade, can’t finance anything, can’t do essentially anything on my account. Credit operations says it’s from an unpaid debt from 2007 lol. Couple issues with that. 1) I have never had a rogers or Fido account at any time except for my current one. 2) it’s apparently from 16 years ago. Even if the old account was mine (which it’s not) how would it affect my current account 16 years later?? And like I said, my current rogers account- the one I’ve had for 7 years- is my one and only. So now I have the fraud team looking into it and hopefully they can fix it. What’s the point of staying with a company where I can’t do anything with my account? Makes no sense.

I plan to stick around

How does one get in touch with the fraud team?

Re: internal lock on my account because of a debt from 2007 that isn’t mine

Greetings @Princess_Peach,

If you suspect that this debt was accumulated by an account that was activated in your name without your permission, then we can escalate a case to have the Fraud Department contact you.

Please PM us so that we can securely gather your information and submit the escalation. For more information on how our Private Messaging system works, you can find out more here.

Regards,

RogersCorey
