Zone 2 Daily Internet

I plan to stick around

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help with this. I have a legacy EPP plan with no data. I was in Europe for three weeks in November, and for one day that I was there, I was charged Zone 2 internet - $15. But the thing is, if I have no data to begin with, why would Rogers turn on data overseas? I was also charged for a text for 0.75

I actually was searching for roaming in the community forums before posting so I did actually read your detailed post before posting my question 🙂 thank you for the informative post. I reached out to Rogers on Twitter and they did mention it was a pay-per-use, not roam like home like the agent on the phone.

I just called Rogers, and was told the $15 is for Roam like home, but I am on a legacy plan that based on my knowledge - doesn’t have roam like home. And the text message I received abroad was “Rogers svc msg: Welcome abroad!. Currently you don't have a roaming plan. Your pay per use rate for Voice is $2/min, a text is $0.75/msg and data is $15.0/day (up to 20.0 MB). Add'l data usage within 24hrs is also $15.0/20.0 MB & billed automatically. For more details contact your Telecom Admin or call +1-514-734-7699 to speak directly to an agent.”

So either this text was wrong, or what the agent told me was wrong. Can someone clarify?

Since the text said $15/day for data (pay per use), I assume you used some data and were charged for it. I again assume that the agent should have said "roaming charge", instead of Roam Like Home (which many people have).  Check out the following post summarizing Roaming charges, how to avoid, etc.

The agent was adamant that the $15 is roam like home, and said it was for a text I sent.

The agent may have been wrong and may simply refer to any roaming as "Roam Like Home", not differentiating between Pay-per-use roaming and Roam Like Home.  Since you replied so quickly, you didn't bother reading the link I provided.
