Old Rogers Mobile Phone Number

munpreetgill13
I've been around

I have two old Rogers phone numbers that I believe are assigned to new people now. I have tried texting and calling my old Rogers mobile numbers to ask if the person would be willing to give me the SMS codes are being sent to my old Rogers mobile phone numbers by Facebook, Instagram and Microsoft.

Is there any sort of way even if it means paying perhaps a lawyer money or whatever to get access to those SMS text two-step factor verification codes that my social media and my older e-mail accounts are sending to my old Rogers mobile phone numbers that may be assigned to new customers?

Thank You.

Good day @munpreetgill13,

Welcome to the Rogers Community! I understand your desire to get access to your Facebook, Instagram and Microsoft account.

When you sign in to your account on a new device, you need more than just your username and password. You need a second authentication "factor" as a way of confirming your identity when you try to sign in - to prove who you are. For example, a password is one kind of factor, it's something that you know. A smartphone or an email address is another kind of factor, it's something that you have.

When you reach out to someone who has your previous phone number, which they now most likely use as verification number for their own accounts, it can easily be perceived as a fraud attempt. I'm afraid there is no way for you to force these people to provide you with the verfication codes sent to their devices, as it goes against every warning brought to their attention.

I'm afraid that "lawyer money" is not the resolution to your problem and you should contact Meta & Microsoft directly, to find out how to provide alternate ways of confirming your identity, to get back in to your accounts.

I sincerely apologize but Rogers won't be able to assist you further, but I am confident you will find a way to update your phone numbers to your new ones.

Thanks for understanding!

Yes RogersMaude is Correct,

You now need to contact Microsoft and Meta and find out how to update your 2FA contact info on the web sites in question so it wont send it to the old number any more. I know this sounds like a pain but it is imperative to have all your information updated

you should also check with these companies you may have added a secondary email address or have an alternate way of doing the 2FA by confirming something else.  so if the phone number is not available, then try your hardest to find another way/
