Mandatory autopayments

Ellimac69
I've been around

To demand autopayment registration to continue the plan of $0.00 for my phone plan that I was promised would continue is a violation of my financial privacy.  I have been responsible to pay my bills since I have begun paying bills many, many years ago.   This is yet another example of big business /government over-reach and control.

If I pay for something then I am entitled to it.  If I don't then I'm not.  Simple.  I shouldn't be held hostage by being 'mandated' to hand over my confidential information (for them to hang on to and sell to ...???) in exchange for a service.

I don't care about your 'registration badges'.  I'm not in kindergarten.

I can't imagine that anyone from Rogers will actually read this and respond to my concerns.

What a scam.

A mandate is not mandatory. You do have a choice! When you sign up, you agree to Rogers current terms and the changing of Any terms within the scope of the law.

However, I am going to assume that changing the terms after you have agreed to take the free phone, should be honoured at the time you agreed to take the free device. Otherwise, Rogers should accept the device to be returned without penalty. It is unfair of the service provider to change the terms of a free device to cost a million dollars as an example as that is bait and switch. This is why I think the original terms should apply that were in place when you accepted the free device

You can also voice your unhappiness with this practice with the CCTS by filing a complaint.
