I received an email that looks pretty legitimate saying I owed $28 from a cancelled account and will be sent to collections if I don’t pay. I called Rogers separately to see if it was true and the operator said that the account number on the email was not valid so not to worry (spent an hour and a half waiting for the non answer). I cancelled an account three years ago. Would I be sent an email like this now? I don’t know what that account number was. I am still worried in case it was legit but I don’t want to call again and give up another hour and a half waiting.

@Jmm1976 It certainly would have helped if you had included the exact wording of the e-mail, or a screenshot of the e-mail with personal information removed. Nevertheless, it sounds like a scam. See the following post on spotting a scam.
