Credit check

I've been here awhile

I called this rogers rep on Mar 3, 2024, and asked to move my internet to a new location, that's all the story with them. The next day (today) I received an alert from TransUnion credit company that my credit score went down almost 90 points and it shows rogers communication inquiry. What is this? I did not inquire about anything else, except moving the internet to a new location, they had a new price for the new location which I said, I will think about it, that's it. I want to see what they have to say, I sent them a complain email.

@shojaie call Transunion and demand a withdrawal of the credit check as you did not authorize it.  Also demand that Transunion recalculate your credit score back to its previous level.

There is one possible circumstance where Rogers will run a credit check for new internet services, and that is when you switch from the older digital services to the newer Ignite services.  That credit check will happen no matter if the switch is intentional or unintentional.

If you currently have the older internet services, with the Hitron modem, its possible that Rogers will not allow you to move that service to another address.  Rogers will force you to upgrade to the Ignite internet service, and as a result will run a hard credit check on you, despite the fact that you might have been a Rogers customer for a good many years.  I believe that Rogers will generate a new customer account number in the process, along with running a hard credit check.

You might not have been advised of the hard credit check requirement if your're being forced into an upgrade to the Ignite internet service.

Thank you, I will follow up with the Transunion.

Re: Credit check

Unfortunately, the credit ratings agencies are not your friend, so, you have to be vigilant in order to protect yourself and your credit rating from their automatic actions and from any company that runs unauthorized credit checks on you.
