Anyway to get in contact with someone from Rogers that actually knows what is going on?

bwilliamp
I plan to stick around

For over a month we've been getting emails (about 5 now) stating 'Work in your neighbourhood is about to begin". A few times now I've gotten voicemails stating work will begin on *insert date here. And each date I don't think any actual work has been done. This makes things difficult because my partner works from home, so each time they have made arrangements to work somewhere else.

Is there anyone to actually find out when and if this work is actually happening? I just got another email an hour ago again. I tried contacting rogers through the link provided for more information www.rogers.com/fibre-powered  but the person (and their supervisor) couldn't find anything out.

Hello @bwilliamp,

Welcome to the Rogers Community Forums and thank you for your post! We appreciate your inquiry regarding the upgrades we are completing to help enhance our network. I am glad that you were able to locate the FAQ as it does have a lot of the pertinent information listed there. Generally, there will be 2 planned service interruptions between 8am and 4pm and as you mentioned you will receive notification ahead of time informing you.

Our network team do try their best to keep the interruptions as short as possible, so it is likely if you have had notifications for work being completed before it may have gone unnoticed but there should be a note on your account regarding the service interruption.

If you would like us to confirm the outages on your account, please feel free to send us a private message to @CommunityHelps so we can assist you further. For more information on how our private messaging system works, please check out our blog.

Re: Anyway to get in contact with someone from Rogers that actually knows what is going on?

K got the official email "Work in your neighbourhood is about to begin" referencing to fibre work will be done in my area and i was wondering what this means for me.

when they do the work and upgrade i guess to fibre in my area does that mean that it will be done all the way to my house or just to the tap and ill have to order new internet to take advantage of the fiber?

Re: Anyway to get in contact with someone from Rogers that actually knows what is going on?

@hiho the work would be done on the municipal property with the city’s permission. If there is a need to access to private property, you will be contacted for consent in advance.

@hiho just to point out, if and when Rogers runs fibre to your home, you might not have any choice but to change to fibre if Rogers shuts down the coax system in your neighbourhood.  Won't know that until you're there.

That's actually an interesting question.  I cant' recall any post where a customer has switched to Rogers fibre due to Rogers shutting down the coax system after fibre was installed throughout the neighbourhood.  Don't know if that has happened so far.
