Is there a way to program the remote to stop controlling the TV audio?
As soon as you programme the remote properly to include an audio device, then the remote will control the sound bar's volume and not the TV's.

Choose the correct remote and then add the appropriate audio device.
Also make sure that HDMI-CEC is turned off on the TV and sound bar so that they don't "fight" the remote commands as discussed in the following post:

Thank you for your response. I can now turn on/off my tv and control my external sound system volume, without changing the volume of my TV speakers.
