Moved Channels

2 of 3 channel moves from the recent (January 1st) channel changes are very confusing. Does anyone have info about the lost channels that were supposedly moved (see below) ?.

Moving was Discovery Science on channel 231 but Discovery Science's new channel cannot be found using just say, “Discovery Science”. Channel 231 is now CTV Nature but the program contents are still Discovery Science ?

Moving was Animal Planet on channel 237 but Animal Planet's new channel cannot be found using just say “Animal Planet”. Channel 237 is now CTV Nature but the program contents are still Animal Planet ?

Previously, many of the programs on HGTV, Food Network, and the Discovery channels were licensed from Warner Bros. Discovery.  Other programs in their schedules were either produced in Canada or sourced elsewhere.  The problem is that Corus and Bell lost the rights to the WBD programming to Rogers.

At the end of 2024, Bell Media could no longer use the "Discovery" branding.  Discovery Science got renamed to CTV Nature.  Some of the programming on the channel will continue on but they can no longer air any programs produced by WB Discovery.

Same situation.  Animal Planet got renamed to CTV Wild but can no longer carry any WB Discovery programming.

Bell also had to rename Discovery to USA network.  It will still carry some of the programming that they had before but not any of the programs produced by WB Discovery.

Rogers relaunched a new Discovery channel on Jan 1, 2025, but it too is not the same channel that Bell had.  They have the content rights to air WBD programs but will not air programs such as Mayday, Highway Thru HeII or Heavy Rescue 401.

Many thanks. It explains everything. Good to know that most of the programs I like will still be on. I have watched something on 231 every day since getting Ignite. Too bad Rogers misdirected us.
