Weekend Data stops come saturday at most provincial parks

dale12
I've been here awhile

My family and I spend alot of time camping, I often need to work on the road. However we notice we loose data come saturday morning late friday night at the majprity of provincial parks, where as the connecction and data speed were fine up untill friday night.

I bought a cell phone booster for the rv, which improves signal strength by 15-20% , but does nothing for the data .problem.

Is there something we can do to improve this , or is this a limit and throttling by rogers in these areas? where the network is not smart enough to expand based on load?

Hello, @dale12.

We're delighted you joined our Community; thank you for your post.

We understand how frustrating it can be to have the service degrade while camping on weekends. There's likely a surge in data usage at provincial parks on weekends, leading to congestion.

You can check the network status and report the issue. It can be done through MyRogers app > Support tab > Network Aid. Or through the Network Help & Outages support page.

You can also connect with our tech support, including sending CommunityHelps a private message to have the issue investigated.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

RogersMoin

Might be worth asking the Park Ranger as to why that is. Algonquin, they turn it off so people can enjoy their weekend and appreciate what's around them but calling is still available for emergency purposes.

It sounds like rogers has "specific" use cases in mind. But congestion on the network is not an issuein dense populations like york region and toronto. What about those of us who would like to rely on this on the road so they can travel with thier families while still being able to work.

It sounds like Rogers does not scale for population shifts or have the capacity for load balanicing properly.   I cannot accpet the solution as its not resovled. I understand the reasoning but as a customer  who sees advertisments about 4 and 5g coverage and boasting big network I feel slighly suckered.
