when I open an account at Rogers using the same email address I use at Fido, it won't let me register an online account, and Rogers could not give a reason and did not solve the problem until they asked me to use a different email address. Now I recall that when I tried to register the account at Rogers using the same email, I got an error saying the email address was already being used in the system, but when I tried to use the email to find the username associated with it, the screen went blank. Even though the problem was solved by using a different email address, what happened next made me think there is interference between Fido and Rogers.
My Fido account is for my friend I have been managing since it was created a few years ago, now my friend can manage herself, so I updated all the info to hers, to my surprise, the info at my Rogers account got updated as well. Rogers confirmed to me it happened because I have both accounts logged in on the same computer. Wired enough, I logged out of both accounts from my laptop and then used my phone to go to my Rogers account, trying to update the wrongly changed info, it did let me update my contact email, but won't let me update my contact wireless number.

Rogers and Fido are sister companies, however they are different brands. THey share the same billing system, so its possible they can identify which accounts have the same customer in common, but other than that, you are indeed correct, you can not use the same email address for a rogers and fido self serve account, you would need to choose something different.

This should not happen. It is a bug, and there isn't a fix. I am still waiting for a solution.

I just reported. It is clear that the contact info at one of my two Fido accounts and my Rogers account are linked somehow, changing one will update the other. A ticket is filed. Thanks Pauly!

They might have some sort of ICM profile, not sure if that is the name they use or not, but some sort of "profile" that is attached to a customer record. that when you make some sort of update to it, it helps to seamlessly update your info that is attached to other accounts, which can be a good thing in some instances. but yes good on you for opening a ticket, maybe it can be manually overridden in your instance.
