Speedtest Issues

Is something going on with speed tests?  I have been running speed tests from speedtest.net for a long time but recently they have stopped working for Rogers servers only. 

I can run the speed test on every server on the list, but when I try to run for a Rogers server I get a socket error.  This happens on Firefox, Chrome, and Explorer.  The same thing happens when I try to use Rogers' own speed test.

The error says that, "A socket error occurred during the download test.  A firewall could be blocking the connection of the server might be having some issues.  Please try again later."

As I said, I have performed hundreds of speed tests in the past and now this is happening - but ONLY for Rogers servers.

I've been lucky because I always get results that are significantly higher than I pay for down and just a bit more than I pay for up via the various speedtest sites.  I'm not on Gb service because I'm perfectly happy with a lower speed, while saving hundreds of $ per year.

If I download a large file (say the 5 GB maps for my Garmin) it starts off significantly higher than I pay for, but after several seconds it ramps down to exactly what I pay for.  This is exactly what Rogers "SpeedBoost" does.

I don't know whether this is Rogers' problem or a speedtest.net issue.  Looks like the servers are functional and usable with the command line version of their tool.

Maybe this could be the problem.  Looking at the list of servers in Canada, they all have a "https_functional" attribute in their server record EXCEPT for the Rogers servers.  Perhaps the Rogers servers are misconfigured and/or unusable for some reason?

Looks like this was the problem and has now been resolved.  When I test with  https://www.speedtest.net/ , it is now selecting the closest Rogers server.
