Hi all,
We recently switched from Rogers from Bell Aliant here in NB after a door-to-door Rogers salesman offered us a package at a price that was more than $160 cheaper/month than we were paying for FibreOP. Our home is only 3 years old and had no prior coax so he had to run all new lines inside and out, so everything is brand new.
Our package includes gigabit internet but I have been unable to climb higher than ~520mbps with a Speed Test to Moncton. That only happened a few times, most of the time it is under 500, +/- 450mbps on average. With our Bell plan we had 500 download and always hit 510/520 on every single speed test, so it is a bit concerning that with a plan that is supposed to be twice as fast our actual in home speed has gone down. (I understand Fibre to the home is a superior technology but still figured if gigabit was advertised over 500 should be possible)
Searching these forums this seems to be a common issue so I'm worried that maybe there is not much I can do but figured I would reach out anyways. On the Troubleshooting post it says:
I am using the XB7 (I think, tall white square tower looking router). I wasn't able to see anything about DOCSYS but under Connection -> Rogers Network when I go down to the Downstream table there are only 24 "Indexes", and then 2 after numbered 33&34 that have NA values for Power Level and SNR so I assume they aren't being used.
Am I supposed to have 32 here? Could this be a reason for a loss of speed?

@Draconix Did you ever do anything to tune/optimize networking on your Windows PC, such as messing with the "TCP receive window autotuning" settings or anything else like that? Do you have QoS or any form of prioritization enabled on your router, which could actually be making things worse?
It's strange that your download data rates ramp up and down the way that they do. When I do a file transfer, the data transfer rate remains steady at the maximum rate allowed by my plan.

I did not mess with any Windows settings except for changing my DNS server to Cloudflare, and I never used any QoS settings in the router. My download speed used to show very high and steady but that changed to what you saw in my screenshot as soon as I switched from CODA-4582 (Legacy Package) to the XB7/XB6 (Ignite Package). I also can't seem to understand how simply changing a modem could cut my speed in half with extreme dips/spikes in download speed.

@Draconix I'm still not sure what to make of your data transfer rates surging and ebbing the way that they are. Some TCP/IP implementations can do weird things at high (Gigabit and faster) speeds but this should not be a problem with modern network stacks. Unfortunately, I do not know the quirks and nuances of Windows networking; I'm a UNIX/Mac/Linux guy and only a relatively casual Windows user. I don't know whether Windows is just responding normally (and appropriately) to network conditions/congestion/packet loss/etc. or whether something abnormal is going on that requires performance tuning. If I saw a Sniffer trace, I would be able to determine what the problem was and then recommend a prescriptive solution to fix it. Without that, I can only guess as to what the problem could be.
The most perplexing thing is that you said that this problem never occurred until you switched to Ignite. Since you are using your own router and have the XB6 in Bridge Mode, the XB6 should simply be passing traffic.
@CommunityHelps Do you have any suggestions? Are you currently tracking any known performance issues with either the XB6 or XB7 gateways, whether in Bridge Mode or gateway mode?

Exactly, it just doesn't make sense. The only change was going from CODA-4582 Bridge Mode -> Asus RT-AC86U to the XB7 Bridge Mode -> Asus RT-AC86U and my speeds instantly decreased (and became extremely unstable). Here are some more screenshots from downloading files today:

This never happened with the CODA, it was always steady and high.
Another thing is the errors that keep increasing every day. I rebooted the modem earlier today to reset the errors to 0, and just 11 hours later these Uncorrectable Codewords already appeared:

I am facing the same issue with a huge drop in speed switching from the CODA-4582 to the XB7. I am hoping Rogers will have some sort of answer on this, this week.

I have changed my internet about 3 month ago, I think, for a better one ( if you see my files)...but my internet is actually slower my ping in gaming used to be 65 and over and now I have 35 to 45 max, same for streaming it's buffering often. I did restart the modem a few time but I still don't understand why my internet is slower with this new upgrade. I am looking for answers and solution because I am paying for a service I do not have and it is very frustrating to pay for something you don't get. It's been slow since I have change the internet. Beside I have now waiting for 45min already on live chat to get someone to help me. So big - for costumer service on my side.

Welcome to the Rogers Community and thank you for your very first post!
Sorry to hear you're experiencing slower speeds after upgrading your services. For gaming, the lower the ping is typically the better so that is strange that you are noticing buffering with a reduction there.
To help get to the bottom of this issue can you provide us with a bit more information:
What plan are you currently on?
Are you noticing the slower speeds on just your wired devices, wireless devices, or both?
Can you run a speed test using a device connected via Ethernet with all other devices disconnected from the modem and let us know the results?
Also can you post the Downstream and Upstream table as found here in post 11 of this thread?
