Internet Ping Spikes

For the past couple of weeks, I've been having ping spikes (over 100ms) whilst playing games and it happens really frequently (I also believe there is packet loss). Here are the results of my ping test and traceroute:

I know how frustrating it can be to game online when you are dealing with latency.

• Is it happening on all games or just certain ones?
• Are you connecting via Wi-Fi or Ethernet? 
• Are you noticing issues during a specific time of day or does it happen at all times?

Hi, sorry for the late reply (it didn't email me for some reason). This happens on various games (all the riot ones, e.g. league of legends, valorant, etc.), Hearthstone, Dead by Daylight, etc. I'm assuming it's across all games since these are all on different platforms. The latency issues also happen on twitch, youtube, etc. 

I am connected via wifi but this didn't used to be as big of a problem until the past couple of months. The problem initially started (but was more bearable even if it was bad) the moment I swapped to Rogers from Oxio but the same infrastructure is used so I'm not sure why the Rogers one is worse. 

This happens all the time to the point where I kind of just quit playing anything that requires constant connection. I just play auto battlers now.

I understand that you're experiencing some latency spikes here but we'll need you to run these tests over Ethernet. 

WiFi is not the most ideal way to play games so we'll need to eliminate any chance that this issue is being caused by internal WiFi issues isolated to your home before we can proceed to the next steps.

Hi @sohnphil,

Thank you for providing the updated test results over a wired Ethernet connection. The request timing out from the 8th hop onwards is not that indicative that there is an issue, especially since it happened on the other test through Wi-Fi as well. The response times are a lot lower now on the wired connection, and there does not appear to be any packet loss.

Are you still noticing an issue with latency while using an Ethernet connection? Can you also try running a traceroute to a different server to see if it is able to complete the test? Thank you.
