Hello,
I am located in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
I am trying to watch programming that is available outside of the Toronto region but for some reason my IP address seems to think I’m located in Toronto.
I am able to access this content from my phone when I turn off my wifi and use my data.
Any suggestions to help me access this content while I am on wifi? Thanks!

Hi @jobro329,
Thank you for your current post on our Rogers Community Forums! We do hope you are able to find all the answers to any inquiries you have here. Your IP address is automatically assigned and should provide you with the correct geolocation tag based on your service address.
Have you made any changes to your DHCP settings, or are you using any additional third-party equipment for Wi-Fi in the home?
Are you able to provide us with some more details regarding the website or application that you are trying to use as well?
We look forward to your reply!

@RogersJermaine
No updates or changes to equipment. I've been on Rogers for the past 4-5 months and haven't done anything since the default set-up.
I am having difficulty accessing Leafs games specifically that should be available to me outside the Toronto region on the Sportnet+ Premium app. I can stream these games no problem using the data on my phone but when I connect to my WiFi the games are blocked and is telling me I'm in a restricted zone.
There are also certain poker gaming sites I cannot access on my wifi due to restrictions in Ontario
I should also note that some websites location defaults to London SW when visiting sites such as homedepot.ca or Montreal on chronogolf

I am experiencing the same issues. It started 3 weeks ago. I have been with Rogers for 5+ years and this has been working correctly the whole time. I am in the Toronto region, trying to watch the Ottawa Senators games and it is being blacked out on all devices on my network. I have a Sportsnet+ Premium account. Using mobile data from Bell this works correctly. No changes have been made on my end (other than regular Windows updates). I contacted Rogers support and they opened a ticket and then closed the ticket with "could not reproduce issue"...
Any help or information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

FYI, Sportsnet+ has a support page for this issue: https://support.sportsnetplus.ca/hc/en-gb/articles/19390985214482-I-think-an-NHL-regional-blackout-i...
When Rogers (or any Internet service provider) assigns you an IP address for your Internet connection, there is nothing about that address that ties it to a specific physical address or geographic location. To pinpoint your physical address, a web site can use geolocation services on a device, which can vary in accuracy, may be disabled, or be unavailable, OR it can access a 3rd-party IP geolocation service, that try to build databases of where service providers allocate IP address blocks. Those services can work well for a while. However, from time to time, Internet service providers may need to reorganize how they allocate IP address ranges to customers, and when they do that, it messes up IP Geolocation services and the web sites that rely on them.

To see if your IP address matches your location, use the following link:
https://whatismyipaddress.com/
If it doesn't you may need to contact the ISP to get it changed to the proper location. There are lots of useful tips and information on that website.

@-G- I appreciate your response, thanks!
However, I've been through the Sportsnet+ support... 3 times... They used the same script 3 times and offer no additional support. I provide them with my postal code to prove my region, my email address to prove my account subscription and provide them with a screenshot of whatsmyip.com to show where my IP location is coming from. All three times they attempted to override my IP... both IPv4 and IPv6 and they say to wait 30 or so minutes to log out and log in and it should work... the issue is it takes them 2+ hours to do this and by the time everything is said and done... the game is over and I can't test. The next game comes along... and surprise, same issue.
Rogers literally just called me to escalate the issue and contact Sportsnet+ to troubleshoot. I am hopeful they can get it working again.

@57 I appreciate your response, thanks!
Sportnet+'s support script asks you to do this which I did. Everything checks out, but the issues persist.

@RogersCorey - Thanks for following up.
I have not been contacted or changed anything new on my end but I was able to watch the game last night so I am hopeful something has been updated.

Hi there,
I am living in ottawa and have my wifi set up through my apartment building because they cover the cost. I have been blacked out due to regional broadcast restrictions and thought that was weird since I am in Ottawa. When I check my IP address location, it says I am in toronto. Is there any way to get my location to show Ottawa instead so I am not blacked out?

Good morning @jobro329!
If you have not yet contacted us for support directly outside of this forum post, please do. It's mostly likely we'll need to escalate a case to have your IP whitelisted.

It turns out the game I was able to watch was one of the free ones... The same issue persists...
