Can't Log into Rogers/Yahoo Email

I plan to stick around

First, I've discovered I have to turn off AD-TRACKERS from the MALWAREBYTES plug in for any web site associated with the login process. No error. Nothing happens. Blank screen.

 

I also went into Firefox settings and deleted any data for ROGERS or YAHOO

 

When I go to https://ca.rogers.yahoo.com/ , click on EMAIL, I'm taken to a screen "Sign in with your Rogers Yahoo credentials". I enter my username, then click continue. I enter my password on the next screen. After a bit of a wait, I receive "Error Something went wrong on our end. Please try again later.". Which I've done to no available.

 

It's worthwhile noting that I'm only trying to log into the web interface since Rogers has dropped the authentication for desktop clients like Thunderbird.

 

Any advice on how to overcome this would be appreciated.

@DS256 Here's a list of tips for when something goes wrong with a Rogers (or other) Website.  Have you tried a clean browser or incognito/private mode?

The latest version of Thunderbird with a PC should work without the App Password. This was discussed often in this forum. See the following post summarizing App PW issues/workarounds:

Many people are migrating their e-mails not tied to an ISP, like Gmail, so you don't end up in this situation again.  Gmail can import Rogers/Yahoo emails under the settings.

Thanks for the reply @57 but really; having to run an email web browser in cognito mode? I tried it anyway and got the same result. In terms 'clean browser' I take it you mean clearing the browser data. I tried that and same result. I'm not going to step of deleing and reinstalling the browser that works everywhere else.

However, I went back and tried to create an account definition in Thunderbird without any password.

 

When you create a new account definition and it uses your email address to see if it finds a matching configuration. In this case it comes up with.

There is no choice for no password.

So I chose Autodetect and the Rogers/Yahoo came back with password

When I pressed RE-TEST it asks for my password, which I entered, then received this error

So, unless someone can come up with instructions, Thunderbird, at least 115.10.1, requires authentication of some sort. In other words, it will not work without an app password or some other authentication credential.

 

Rogers should just announce they are dropping email support and put us out of our misery. I going to follow up on my post on how to delete an @rogers email account after notifying those who use it to send email to me.

1. Incognito just bypasses any bad cookies or cache that you have on your computer/browser. It's meant as a test, not to use all the time.  (If it works in Incognito mode, then there is an issue with your computer/cookies, cache, etc) By clean browser, I meant a different one (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc)  that doesn't have any extensions involved, as discussed in the first link in my previous post.  Browser extensions or settings can often affect websites (not just Rogers), but a clean browser almost always works.

 

2. Obviously, one needs a password, however, it is the regular password you use for Webmail, or for an app like Mail or Gmail on a device like a phone or tablet.  The app PW generator has been down since March 2023, so anyone who "lost" theirs is out of luck for using some (especially older) email clients.

 

3. When you create an account on a device or on an e-mail client, you use your regular password and then you may be required to set up MFA (multi-factor authentication), which requires a code to be sent to a cell phone.
