Alright everyone! The time has come, Product Managers @RogersJose, @Rogers_D, and @Rogers_Red5 are here for the next 3 days to answer all your questions about Ignite TV, Ignite WiFi Hub, your Ignite Internet Modem and any other questions you may have.

It's not my setup. It's a Cloud PVR problem. I have tried all things and checked everything on the Tv end by switching Audio from Auto to Digital, using different inputs and outputs, turning off CEC, ARC, nothing changes. When I switched to Expert mode like @Biollw suggested my AVR switches modes now, but on ALL my recordings, the AVR is not switching modes, and all recordings are "improperly encoded" as you mentioned. Also my apps on my tv,
(netflix, prime, etc) are all working with DD 5.1, even my built in Chromecast in my tv work. Will see what the technician will say tomorrow.

Coming back to your lobby camera question.
The previous cable boxes, were able to sort of cheat/allow these, as the lobby cameras were broadcasting on a tunable cable channel, which the box could then tune to.
The current boxes, dont have a tuner, and are not connected to the TV cable at all. So the box itself will not be able to view the cameras.
BUT.. there should be a workaround.
(and yes, this would be an issue for someone getting bell fibe, etc as well)
When they would come in and set up ignite, normally they will now disconnect all other cable connections, other than the one going to the modem. In this case, i would get them to leave any of the connections going to any of the rooms where there is the TV which you want to have the Lobby accessible.
Have them set up the ignite stuff as normal, which it will input via the HDMI to your TV.
Then run the cable from the wall, into the TV tuner on the TV itself. You might have to go through the 'scan for channels' to find them.
Then when you want to view the lobby would be changing the TV inputs to the TV setting. Then back to HDMI for the rogers.
I understand this is not optimal.. but with almost every service moving toward IPTV and not having cable tuners in the device.. this will be the norm moving forward 😞

@Square : I have the following additional comments and questions.
1. Have you tried recording a channel that is DD2.0 like CP24?
2. Would you be able to connect the ignite box directly to the AVR via HDMI as a test? This would confirm if the TV is the problem. Why are you not connected this way (directly to the AVR) in the first place?
3. If a direct HDMI connection to the AVR works, then you would need to find the audio setting in the TV that allows for DD5.1 passthrough. But, as I indicated in the FAQ, not all TVs allow for proper DD5.1 passthrough, although most newer ones do. Passthrough is different from the TV apps which may produced audio that's different from a "passthrough".
4. That audio setting mentioned in item 3 above, would usually change the TV's output to PCM when not on DD5.1 mode.
5. I assume you've rebooted the modem and boxes by now...

Yes, that was going to be my default solution... but I thought (dreamed) the Xi6 might allow for some user specified local unicast streams. In my case, it's not a MDU, but I do have "lobby cameras", which are available on a locally inserted NTSC channel - but also as rtsp on my local IP network.

Are the local RogersTV channels included in Ignite TV? In London it would be channel 13 on digital cable

Once rather frustrating things about Ignite TV is that packages, such as Popular, don't allow you to select popular Bell Media-owned channels as Flex Channels. Lower-end tiers offer less choice and less value.

Crave + Movies + HBO with STARS (at $23.95 / month) is only available on Digital TV
To get the same on Ignite, you have to pay $19.95 / month for Crave + Movies + HBO and then pay an additional $8.95 / month for Stars... or be forced to go with a higher-tier package that includes (unwanted and unneeded) US Superstations.
Flex channels are great, in theory. With Premier, we can finally get rid of "zombie channels" that nobody watches anymore. However, it would be nice to get better value in the lower-tier packages and the theme packs that we subscribe to as well.

I would also like to ask about what's happening with regard to the Stingray Music channels. Back in August, Stingray issued a press release about the new deal that they signed with Rogers. It said:
The new agreement will offer more flexibility and choice for viewers with options to choose services based on music preferences.
As part of the agreement, Rogers television customers (cable and IPTV) will have access to Stingray Music audio channels and can also enjoy the Stingray Music mobile app and web player for free. Stingray 4K channels will continue to be available including Stingray Festival 4K, and Stingray Now 4K. The deal also provides Rogers with rights to distribute exciting new Stingray products. More details will be shared at a later date.
The press release hinted at exciting things to come. However, since that deal got signed, the Stingray Music Video channels have been removed from the Flex Channel lineup and an announcement on MyRogers said that these channels would be discontinued on November 15, 2019.

1. Yes, you can have up to 10 set-top boxes.
2. You can have as many TV streams in the home as you have set-top boxes.

- How do I remove channels I do not have a subscription too? The Free to Me option still shows channels I don't have a subscription too which is pretty annoying

Show me what movies are on
- How can we make this show it shows movies you have access to, not movies on channels you don't have a subscription too? Show me just the movies I have access too

Plex
- Netflix and Amazon are great but integrating Plex would be fantastic... how do we get this on the roadmap 😉

Bridge Admin Password
- Why can't I access my modem when its in Bridge mode? The admin account password must get changed when you toggle Bridge mode on - this is confusing? Is this expected? If so why?
While we do not support a bridged Gateway setup, you should still be able to access the Admin settings even if the modem is bridged. You may need to call in to technical support for this issue if it persists.
WiFi Settings
- Why do you hide the Wi-Fi settings through a special sequence in the remote? This menu should be accessible with perhaps a warning to not modify unless you know when your doing.
Changing the Wi-Fi settings on the Ignite TV boxes can result in connectivity issues, as a precaution this setting is not easily accessible to avoid connectivity issues arising by accident.

All Rogers TV stations are included and available with Ignite TV. And the benefit with Ignite is that if the channel is located on channel 13 in London on DTV, it would continue to be available in that position for Ignite. Not to mention that the channels are also available through Ignite 2nd screen.

Speaking of that, ok, Ask the Expert, expert. Whats the Ring Equivalency Number for both the Arris and Technicolor XB6. I've asked this previously and I've never had a response. For the responding expert, here's a Wikipedia reference:

So, the REN number in Canada if I remember this correctly is 5 which translates to a number of telephones in the house, whose total REN does not exceed 5. If the modem's REN is too low, it won't ring the connected telephones, or, the ring won't be noticeable. These problems have been reported by new users, so, whats the REN for both XB6 models?

Thanks! Could you please share where you were able to find this information? Was it available from any public sources? There seems to be very little technical information available about the "Xfinity" hardware, and that's typically limited to documents that get submitted when obtaining industry certification or (leaked) early draft documents that are not necessarily representative of the final product.

So nobody with Ignite has a old AVR Receiver?, with no HDMI, just Optical Inputs? I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem with the Ignite Cloud Recordings. The technician said he has not had this problem in over 1 year he has connected the Ignite service. Guess I have to fork over $$ to buy a new system. What a headache!

@Square : Optical can carry DD5.1 signals, so I'm sure that other people have an AVR that has optical inputs, however, perhaps they are set up slightly differently in their passthrough configurations or their TVs, or use an HDMI to HDMI/Optical converter instead of going "through" their TVs, etc. There are a number of ways to skin a cat.
What happened to the issue of DD5.1 on live TV vs. improperly encoded DD5.1 on recorded programming that you spoke of earlier? Has that gone away now? Perhaps we're missing something in your troubleshooting efforts? Something is not clear here.

I'm not sure why the question was asked. Ringer loads are typically only a problem these days when multiple "vintage" telephones are in the mix, and problematic loads can usually be confirmed with a GR-909 REN test on the ATA. I know some Nortel phones are also not "happy" when connected to VoIP gear (rather that an actual switch) but that's another issue altogether. Still, I'm happy to get whatever technical information that I can when I can.

I'm hoping to have my Ignite setup and mostly integrated by next week. One of my boxes will be feeding an older AVR - which currently gets an optical connection from my old 8300HD box. I've just realized I'm going to have to solve this connectivity issue. Sad that there isn't any digital audio I/O on the new Xi6... so I'm going to Amazon me up one of these now and hope it does the trick: https://www.amazon.ca/Proster-Extractor-Converter-Optical-Splitter/dp/B073TT8JGN
