eSIM France

I’ll be visiting Paris in the near future and I’ve been investigating buying an eSIM “card” rather than pay (through the nose) for Rogers’ Roam Like Home. So I’m wondering if there’s anything I need to know beforehand that isn’t necessarily explained on the websites offering eSIMs (I’m figuring to stick with a well known local provider such as Orange). Will I need to disable data, Wifi, etc. on my phone first? Or is it simply a matter of activating the eSIM upon arrival in France?

My suggestion regarding Rogers is to either call them to turn off Roam Like Home before you leave and/or remove the Rogers SIM from your phone to prevent charges (or turn off the Rogers eSIM).  Here's a "summary" thread discussing Roaming.  Check out at least posts 1 and 2, and the links in post 2 of the thread

You cannot utilize the airplane mode option because you'll want to use your phone.

Many thanks for the suggestions and links. I'm leaning toward removing the physical Rogers SIM card just before departure and then activating the France eSIM upon arrival. This seems like the simplest (and most fool-proof) solution. I'll also check around for any potential downside or other bits of information that might be helpful. Thanks again.
