Zero Customer Care

I've been around

wow.... Rogers sucks!!!!
I have 3 accounts with them, between personal and the business, been a customer for about 30 years, yet they won't even budge to accommodate!

My 12 year old received a text message from a schoolmate, to which he replied, and they have a conversation back and forth over several days....no reason to worry. Then we get our bill, and there is an extra $45 in charges for International Texting.
Apparently his friend was using some app to spoof his number, so the number my son was texting was a US based one, not the local number he believed he was texting, and Rogers billed us $0.45 per msg, for nearly a 100 texts.
No warning, no notice, just us looking into the details when we get an oversized phone bill this month.
Called up Rogers, and they said there is nothing they can do. Nothing?? Apparently a company with over $21 billion dollars net worth, doesn't have to ability apply a credit to an account of a very long term and loyal customer? Clearly they aren't in the "Customer Service" business......guess I'll be shopping all my $1,000+ monthly business elsewhere.

Hello @neophile13,

Thank you for being part of our community and for posting about your billing concerns. I can certainly understand how it must feel to receive a higher bill than expected. 😞

Unfortunately, we do consider it the customers responsibility to manage their own cellular use as far as calling, texting, etc. We also recommend being very careful when responding to unknown phone numbers since some messaging apps will assign an international phone number to a users' account without them realizing it. You can also refer to the area code of the phone number to determine if it is or isn't within your local calling area.

I realize that mistakes can happen. You may want to try calling into customer service at 1-888-764-3771 and request to speak to a manager. I can't make any promises, but perhaps they can make an exception for you, if this is a first time occurrence.

Kind regards,
RogersYasmine
