Why 2 hard credit checks?

Arismic
I've been here awhile

I recently checked my credit score and noticed the score drastically reduced. I noticed it is due to 2 credit hits from Rogers in the subsequent days. I applied for an Internet connection on 25th Nov. But there are 2 inquiries on Nov 25 and Nov 26. Both from ROGERS COMMUNICATIONS CA. I did not open any other account with Rogers in the past 12 months.

I'm an advisor
Hard-credit check threads, and Fraud department threads are the most uncomfortable things to read. I'm glad people keep posting them, but I can't help but think that CBC Marketplace needs to do a special 90-minute episode about this nonsense.
Anyway, I would suggest you read at least the following two threads, just to see what you're dealing with (use the search bar at top of page):
1) Unauthorized Credit Inquiries from Rogers
2) Incorrect Payment Report to Credit Bureau
By the way, I realize that Rogers is not the only company that freaks out over spelling mistakes, and other related issues that might trigger a hard-credit check, but my guess is that Rogers is hard to beat.
I believe that if you, or somebody trying to pretend to be you, tried to open a Fido account, or tried to do something with Rogers Bank, that could also leave the Rogers Communications fingerprints.
The good news is that it's quite often not fraud related, but just a typical day in the life of the Rogers hard-bodycheck team. They especially love to smash Trans Union through the boards.
And if you ever decide to search through some of the Fraud Dept threads, I would suggest that you perhaps have a cute puppy nearby, to help deal with the shock.
Also try to whistle a happy tune, while you read any hard-credit check threads. It should help lower your blood pressure ... I wish I was kidding. 🎶🐶
