I just saw a message on my account that says my ignite tv bundle will increase by $8 in January. I just signed up for this plan a month ago and agreed to a 2 year term at that price how can they just raise the cost like that? Literally locked me in and then change the price.

You would have to look at your contract. In some cases, the 2-year contract provides you with a $20/month discount on your bill but your bundle price could still increase over that time. In other cases, the price actually is fixed over the 2-year term. Even if your monthly price is not guaranteed, since this is a recent renewal, your current price may already include that price increase.

The term end dates are typically included on the bill as well as next to the corresponding service in MyRogers. Just go to Services >> Choose service from the drop down and you can see the details.

does this mean my monthly bill goes up by $8.00? There is no "service fee" on my bill at the moment

A price increase would not appear as a separate item under service fee for "$8". You would instead see the cost of the Ignite TV package or bundle increased to the new price.
You can review your last three invoices to check if there was a notice of price increase on the bill. If yes, then you would be impacted by the rate increase.

Fwiw, looking at MyRogers pages, under Usage & Services there is no indication of any plan end dates. To see that you have go to Billing and Payment ..... View my Bill. That brings up the electronic version of the bill. On that page are the dates that your plan(s) end on . There is also a link that will say something like "Bundle Discount and Internet Offer will be ending on Month XX, 2024. View details" The "View Details" is a link to a secondary page which shows the Bundle end dates, if there are any.
When you completed the last negotiation session and agreed to a given price for internet and any other bundled services, Rogers should have sent you a Critical Information Summary, Rogers Residential Service Agreement and Rogers Terms of Service and Other Important Information. Within the Critical Information Summary and Rogers Residential Service Agreement are details regarding your plans, any savings that Rogers is providing for any plans and the end dates of the plans.
Here's the text from the:
Rogers Residential Service Agreement .... Monthly charges section:
This is what we will charge you each month after any applicable monthly savings end.
Prices subject to change in accordance with the Rogers Terms of Service.
Rogers Residential Service Agreement .... Monthly savings section:
This is what you will save each month until your monthly savings end.
Monthly saving are applicable to specific services you have subscribed to, and any changes to your services may change discount eligibility.
So, you can read thru that and it should match what you are seeing on your monthly bill, except perhaps for a Bundled Discount which shows up in the PDF version of the bill.
Now, in terms of the upcoming price increase, here's the text from the PDF version of the bill:
Total for Bundled Services $ XX.XX
Your promotion(s) will be ending soon. Bundle Discount & Internet Offer will be
ending on Month XX, 2024.
UPCOMING CHANGE TO YOUR IGNITE INTERNET SERVICE RATE
On the date of your first bill after January 9, 2024, the monthly service fee for your Ignite
Internet package as shown on this bill will increase by $4 plus taxes.
Any active discount or guaranteed rate will remain in effect until its end date. If your
service is subject to a fixed service agreement term, your monthly service fee increase will
be effective as of your term end date, as set out in your Residential Service Agreement.
Services included as part of your condo maintenance or property rental fees are not
impacted. These changes are made in accordance with the CRTC Internet and Television
Service Provider Codes.

So, my read of this is that any price increase won't occur immediately if you have a fixed length service agreement (price) with a fixed discount as set out in the Residential Service Agreement. It will occur when the plan expires on its end date, but, if you haven't renewed prior to that, you would end up automatically changing to the in market plan rate on that date, so any smaller increase would be a moot point as the in market rate change would be much larger and would incorporate the price increases that are going to occur shortly.

I was offered a new 24 month contract on Dec. 30/2023. The price was $104 + tax =$120.74. My bill was $134.66 for January. How do I find out if my price was fixed or not? The online live agent said all Rogers billing was going up and I would have been notified. I don't recall any notifications

@LM1953 - short answer, as a fellow customer: my understanding is that the current 24-month terms should all be guaranteed rate, unlike the month-to-month option(s), if available, which were subject to change.
Our cable/internet term has always ended right before a scheduled rate increase, so I've gone through something similar to you, on more than one occasion!
A few years back, the online chat rep I'd been negotiating a new term with wrote: "[...] giving you the guaranteed savings price of $xxx.xx with tax included until January 1st 20##!" But then when the bills came in, they were for $8+tax per month higher (+$4 for internet, +$4 for tv) than quoted. Naturally, I complained. Rogers reps countered by saying "No, look at your previous bill (well actually the November bill)" as the January increase was mentioned there. And it was, but "guaranteed [..] price" means guaranteed price (ie: a total inclusive of tax), while they were now telling me it was only a guaranteed monthly discount. Fortunately, I had the chat transcript from the original negotiation saved and could prove that was not what was said and agreed to. They relented , said the rep had misspoken but yes it was their mistake - and they gave me a bill credit.
Then, at the end of that term when I started a new negotiation (on the phone this time), the rep started quoting me prices and when I asked if it was inclusive of the coming rate increase, he admitted it wasn't. Again! I said "Let's just talk the actual amount that I will see on my bill, inclusive of any rate increase". So we did, and I agreed. The rep sent the new Residential Services Agreement pdf via email while I was on the phone, and ... of course the rates shown were the PRE-increase rates, and... there was absolutely no mention on the RSA of a coming rate increase. I let him know my displeasure about seeing that, and sent in a separate written complaint. But at least the bills all year were for the agreed amount.
And now, my most recent term negotiation: I considered accepting my online in-account "Special Offer", which was stated to have a "Guaranteed price for 24 months; $xxx.xx thereafter (subject to increase)" but an error message prevented me from accepting it so I went online to ask a chat rep to match it if not improve on it. We came to an agreement. When the RSA pdf came in, I noticed it listed numerous discounts each with a start date/end date/duration but nothing that clearly indicated that it was guaranteed total PRICE. I asked the rep and was pointed to look below the red box that says "Summary of monthly charges and savings" (with the total $ amount underneath it) for the fine print. After the words "Excludes applicable usage charges." comes the line "This is what we will charge you each month until your monthly savings end."
That, right there.
"Um, but what about the very next line?", I asked. The one that says "Prices subject to change in accordance with the Rogers Terms of Service."
"Disregard that". 🤔

Any dealing with Rogers that involve arranging contracts for services seems to be over complicated.
My First 2024 Invoice has the $8.00 + tax also and I went to my printout of my RSA and noted the "month to month" designation on services. Not happy about this of course. This brings up my experiences whenever arranging a new contract.
Also, when cold contacted by a rep of Rogers offering to go over my package and improve it , any offer as promised by the agent sets about a flurry of convoluted contract paperwork that takes so much time to unravel, especially if you agree to do this before the end of present contract! Will never do that again.
Rogers Tech service is mostly excellent, but other dealings can be over and above annoying.

I was forced to cancel my mobile service after an increase was applied to my plan partway into my 24 mos agreement. I was advised during chat that the cause was that the base rate had increased but my discount remained the same. Not acceptable. I have moved on and of course am now getting ambassador calls offering the sky. Sooooo Rogers!

I too, just negotiated a new contract and the very next month an additional $7.00 plus taxes was added too their increase for tv portal boxes. My agreed to contract never included that additional amount. Now I see my home phone is costing me extra per month also…so I may have to cancel it. I’ve had many calls to Shaw and they say now that they can do nothing. I’ve been a customer for 25 years or more and this is what a senior gets…more increases and no means to pay for them because OAS and CPP don’t keep up with inflated prices. My bill this month is $12.00 more than my contract price, with the extra charge and extra taxes. I might have to go to a streaming situation. I’m not a satisfied customer.
