Long distance charges are usually on the caller calling the number that is long distance for them. When you are outside of your calling/coverage area included in your calling plan. You will also be charged long distance from your numbers base location to the destination where your device is that is outside of your calling plan.
As an example. If I am in Toronto and receive a call from the UK. The caller from the UK is charged the long distance to call me. If I am in Australia and I answer a call coming into my Toronto number. I charged long distance from Toronto to Australia unless I have a round paclage that includes Australia or I have roam like home.
