new internet and phone lines offer - real of fake

marius2
I've been around

Hi there,

I just received a call from Rogers, Leo Austin and William Davis, saying their reach back numbers are: 548-708.4432, extension 3005 WTS22, and ext.6015, offering me a half price internet and almost half price phone lines.

Is this any of the previous mentioned data real?

Would they ask for Rogers Account Number and PIN and driver license if they call from Rogers? and debit or credit card?

Shouldn't they have already this data?

I still have them on the call for more than 1h now.

Thank you.

@marius2 personal opinion, its a scam call.  I wouldn't call them back and I hope that you didn't give out any personal information.  There has been an epidemic of scam calls to Rogers customers in the recent past.

When I returned the call, they answered as Rogers but seemed confused when I gave only my first name. They had very strong East Asian Accents. When asked if they could access my old account and add notes so I could call the Rogers main line they became upset, they continually attempted to gain information which we would not provide which ended the call on an angry note.

"Beware!"

Re: new internet and phone lines offer - real of fake

@Dmounted any time that a caller claims to call from any business that I deal with, I say to them, don't call me, I'll call you.  And as they say, if an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true.

My advice to anyone who receives one of these calls is to log into your account and change your password and PIN.  And while you're in there, look for any changes in your contact details, including address and phone number and any changes or additions to your services that you probably did not order.  If there are any offers from Rogers, they should show up on the services page.

If you have any questions regarding anything in your account, don't hesitate to contact the moderators via private message.
