No, all rogers Ignite boxes are owned by rogers, They will not activate anything else. Sorry.

The advertised box is owned by rogers. Not sure how the person got it and thinks they can sell it.

As stated by @Biollw above, all the IgniteTV boxes are rentals only.  This box is not worth anything and is likely "stolen".  Rogers will not activate it on their system.  This ad should be reported to ebay. I have reported several previous similar (IgniteTV box) ads on Kijiji.

P.S. I see the second photo has a serial number. You may wish to report it to Rogers.

@drewber8303 I agree -- do not buy it.

This is packaging from a year ago, before the Ignite STBs were branded "Ignite Entertainment" boxes.  While you cannot buy an Ignite set-top box from Rogers, it is also possible that this could be an unused Ignite SmartStream box that the (ex?) customer now "owns" after paying a $120 non-return fee, and they may be trying to recoup their losses.

As @57 pointed out, it's almost certain that Rogers will not allow it to be activated on your account.

I've been around
I have an Ignite box in its original unopened package. It is/was not stolen. It was free, received as part of the Internet package deal. But I have other streaming boxes I prefer. So I’m not trying to recoup anything. Rogers told me I am free to do whatever I want to do with it.

@Andi13 : As discussed previously in this thread:

1. You cannot purchase a box from Rogers.

2. Even if the box is "free" from Rogers, there is usually a charge on your monthly bill and a credit for the same amount, or the statement says something like "one box included."

3. In effect, this makes the box a rental and is not yours to sell.

4. I would get written confirmation of that.  I don't believe that information to be correct. The Rogers person may have misunderstood your intent or question.

5. Anyone you sell it to, would not be able to use it since Rogers is unlikely to activate it on their account so any buyer would not be happy with you.
