Why doesn’t Rogers offer Canadian apps like CBC Gem, Global Tv, CTV, City TV +, Knowledge Network B.C., TSN + TVO, PBS. There are only 3 Canadian apps that I saw The Weather Network, Crave and SportsNet+. With CBC Gem 14 , Global TV, 6 Time shift channels are included from the broadcaster at no extra charge. The broadcasters apps offer more choice and seasons and episodes like CTV Throwback, Global Tv Freeplay

Thank you for your feedback, @Flavour1!

If we should expand our app offerings, you'll see us make a blog about it here: Blog - Rogers Community

Re: Apps

Hi Corey, As I have noticed going the forum comments many Ignite subscribers are saying the same where are all the apps that other IPTV providers are providing like Bell Fibe over 1000 and the ones I mentioned in my post that was taken down from this forum. These are Canadian apps CBC Gem, CTV, Global TV , City TV, Yes Tv, TVO.  The Knowledge Network B.C., and Pluto TV. Others are Plex Tv, Distro TV PBS. Most News TV channels have their own apps. I have apps now that are free to Download and content is free, recently Yes TV Toronto, Calgary and Edmonton live feeds. CP 24 and CTV News channel have apps from the App Store free and content free. Smart TV’s and the internet are another tool for subscribers to use to save the cost of your TV subscription.

Does Comcast control what Rogers Ignite can have in their app selection due to the licence agreement?

Good Morning @Flavour1, 😊

We appreciate the inquiry! Regrettably, we would be unable to comment regarding the app and licensing agreement. I did find an article that may shed some light on our partnership.

Regards,

Re: Apps

Yeah right

Re: Apps

Hi, Yes Bell has thousands of apps as they use Google, the App Store. Everything Rogers wants an app has to go through Comcast X1 platform for their boxes as they are licensed by Comcast.
I have given up with Rogers to put more apps up, I use the App Store, Google and our Smart TV, much easier than dealing with Rogers. So if a app wants to go on Rogers Ignite that app must conform to the X1 platform

Rogers got their self into this mess, with everything they do as the system and boxes are licensed by Comcast . Not worth your breath arguing with them.

just do your own thing. Download the app and content and if no purchase required it’s free. I use the CBC Gem , Global TV and Yes TV apps they are free and you get Time shift On Demand and extra content.

Rogers will be out of business if they don’t keep up with technology
