Using iPad wifi to send text messages to wireless users

On my iPhone 7 I have text message forwarding to allow my iPad to receive text messages from wireless users.

I use my iPad over wifi to send and receive to wireless users. 

I have 50 text messages per month on my plan. If I use my iPad will it count toward that total?

In order to send/receive the messages from the iPad, your iPhone must be turned on and connected to WiFi or Cellular network. Hence, the messages sent/received from your iPad are counted towards the plan.
