Pay as you go changed?

coughlan1960
I've been here awhile

Hi, I have been on Pay as You Go for a long time now and it seemed to have changed. I do not use my cell phone much, so I just put $10 a month on it. The way it used to be was that I had the $10 dollars in the balance and then the next month, I'd put another $10, so then I'd have $20 in the balance. So now what is going on is that Rogers is now charging $12 for a top up. So last month I put in $10 dollars like usual but I have an extra $4 on the balance, so Rogers took my $10 along with $2 that was in my balance, but it was supposed to add up to $14 dollars in the balance. The $10 dollars I am putting in each month is taken away and isn't going toward my balance at all.

Why is this happening? The way it used to be was that I pay the $10 and it stays there in the balance, now Rogers is taking it away the I don't have any money left in the balance to use the phone, that $10 is supposed to be the balance! It seems Rogers is now charging $12 and we have to pay additional money to be able to use the phone.

So, what do I do? Does this mean I now have to pay more? I wonder how much more it would be to go back on a contract because this isn't what is used to be anymore, $10 dollars a month was great until this started happening.

Thank you.

@coughlan1960 : Which plan are you on?  In 2018, the Anytime plan was done away with, unless you called in to keep it. See the following post on the topic, items 3/4 of my post, and some previous posts in that thread.  People were migrated to Talk/Text plans at that time.

The Anytime plan was the only one that allowed you to accumulate (rollover) your balance. All of the other (newer) plans do not have any rollover of funds at the end of the month.

I'm surprised that you're only noticing this now since it's been 4.5 years since the migration...  Either that, or something is amiss in your account.  Here are the instructions on how to talk to a CSR about PAYGo.

Talk/Text plans were initially $10/mo, but went to $12/mo and the least expensive is now $15/mo - see link below:

Hi, I read your message the same day you responded and I forgot to send a reply back to you! Thank you very much for your response, it was very helpful. I don't know how I didn't notice, but wow I can't believe it was been that long since they changed it! haha. Anyway, thank you again.

Re: Pay as you go changed?

You may find it better to pay $100.00 for a year, and then if the balance drops you can add $20.00 at a time until the end of the year. This works for us, using the voucher system.
