SIM activation delay

Knf
I'm here a lot

Hello,

Just added a line to my account and ported a number over. The number came over but the sim does not appear to be activated yet as no service still. Is there a known issue going on? Anyone else with similar issues?

I'm experiencing the exact same issue. Ported number over.  Port successful however no service on SIM.  Rogers tech confirmed there is an issue/delay in new sim activations at the moment

Thank you. I assume no eta was given on a fix?

I am having the same issue in Saskatoon. I’m really getting fed up. It’s been 10 hours. I noticed my new iPhone 14 wasn’t getting 5G so I went in for a new sim that wasn’t so old and now I can’t use my phone! They assured me it will be fixed and should automatically take effect.

Same issue with mine. I ported my bell number and it says completed, but phone calls/texts are going out from temp number only. Rogers customer service says it’s provisioning issue and there’s no eta for the fix…

Nothing working yet. Getting really frustrated and starting to wonder if I should’ve switched over in the first place 🤦‍♂️

Yeah I know what you mean. OK there’s an update it’s just after midnight here in Saskatchewan and I have four bars on my iPhone and it’s on the Rogers extended network or EXT but I still don’t see any 5G so it looks like they’re slowly rolling it out at least to my area anyway but I’ll let you know tomorrow if I get my 5G

Cheers Ralph. It’s my wife’s phone so I’m hoping when she wakes up it works or I’m gonna hear about it 🤣

Well, it’s still pretty spotty. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I have two or three bars of cellular signal strength, but still no 5G symbol. (Set to 5G Auto) I’m wondering if because I’m on such an old plan from years ago even though they put a brand new Sim card maybe it’s just not 5G compatible. Then I read something today about Rogers infinite plans and that only those plans have 5G? I don’t know I’m gonna have to go back to Rogers today and ask them some questions.

I tried to port two numbers yesterday at 3pm PST - it's just finally ported now.  Try turning Flight Mode on and then off.  Seems to have helped?

Wow, finally it works.

Thanks

Hmm
I'm a reliable contributor

The porting delay is random. There's quite a bit of activity with Shaw mobile customers migrating over to Rogers. Whist many reports it takes them only a few minutes to port over, others have to wait three or more hours.

Also, don't forget to check your Wi-Fi calling on applicable devices. This is another [known] issue as a result of porting.  In contrast, there's typically no issue with Wi-Fi calling on Telus/Bell.
