Question about roaming?

soisoso
I've been here awhile

Hello,

By next week I might go to USA and I'm on postpaid plan and do I have to call Rogers to add roaming or just use my phone as I do in Canada by Turing on the roaming and use my data or make phone calls? Thanks for any help.

Good day @soisoso!

Thanks for visiting us in the community and congrats on your first post! 🙂

Most Rogers customers with an eligible postpaid wireless plan are automatically enrolled in Roam Like Home. To double check, customers can text TRAVEL to 222

To ensure your device is ready for use during your travels, make sure to keep data roaming on and airplane mode off.  Your device will connect automatically daily to refresh apps, regardless if your physically using your phone. If your trip requires you to fly to your destination, it is important to turn data roaming off and airplane mode on during the flight.  This will avoid unnecessary roaming charges.

For regular Consumer accounts, the Roam Like Home rate for travel within the U.S is currently $12/day (up to a maximum of 20 days per monthly bill). The Roam Like Home daily fee is per device and will be triggered once every calendar day (based on ET), and only when you make or receive a phone call, check your voicemail, send an SMS/MMS (incoming is free), or use data i.e. browse, maps or an application. For more detailed info regarding Roam Like Home service, please click here

Wishing you safe and happy travels!!

Thanks for your reply. Yea I'm on postpaid plan and it did says I'm enrolled for Roam Like home. Just one more question. Let say I will receive a call and I didn't answer will I get charge or just when making calls, answering and  or using my data will I be charged the 12 dollars? Thanks

Re: Question about roaming?

Hello @soisoso!

Roam Like Home is active only on days when you make or answer a call, text, call your voicemail or use data while travelling. Once active, it will be valid until 11:59 p.m. of that calendar day based on Eastern Time (ET). If you don’t want to use Roam Like Home, switch your data roaming off and avoid making or answering calls or sending texts.

Regards,

RogersCorey

Re: Question about roaming?

Hello,

I have been charged for Roam Like Home for an extra 3 days although I did not use the service [not even recorded in the voice/data usage in the bill]  When I called customer support I was told that it activates even if I don't answer a call - which is just the opposite of what I have read here and even on Rogers' website. She referred me to the Terms and Conditions, but even it is not written there... So this is just not right at all.

I disputed this and got credit back for these days, but just wanted to put it here for the record.
