If cancel "Roam Like Home", can I still receive text message?

HowardL
I plan to stick around

Hi there,

Just wanted to know, what function / coverage will lost if I cancel "Roam Like Home"? Can I still receive text message?

The main function is to receive text / verification code when I wanted to travel out of Canada, so, to avoid wrong bill, I wanted to cancel "Roam Like Home", but don't know what function will be limited / impacted.

Please advise, thank you.

The answer is yes, however, it will be on a pay-per-use basis.  You can find out the cost of texts in the particular country by putting the country name into the box in the following link:

https://www.rogers.com/mobility/roaming

For example, a standard text would cost $0.75 in many countries.

However, be advised that some institutions or companies may not send texts to certain countries due to scammer issues, so the MFA may be "blocked" via text.  If the institution or company allows, you may be able to get MFA via email, which is what I use for most MFA (unless that's not an option with the institution/company).

Same goes if you're trying to login to certain websites from certain countries.  For example, I cannot login to Toronto Hydro from Mexico or Costa Rica.
