Hello,
We just got a new XB8 modem but the Ethernet ports seem to be stuck at 100Mbps, even though I tested with CAT6 cable and 1Gb/10Gb NICs on other computers, can't get any of the ports to negotiate over 100Mbps.
Is the modem broken or has Rogers put a cap on the Ethernet ports?

@guarisma that is very odd. Do you have Fibre to the Home, with an Optical Network Terminal which connects to the modem thru the modem's port #4 (lower right hand port), or is the modem connected to the Rogers network thru a typical RG-6 cable?
I'm wondering if this is a provisioning issue, and .... Rogers does have issues provisioning modems these days.

Are you connecting directly to LAN ports on the modem?
Double-check your cabling. You need all four pairs (8 wires) of the cable to connect at gigabit rates. 100 Mb/s Fast Ethernet only requires pins 1,2,3 and 6. If any other wires are missing, damaged or mis-terminated, you will not be able to establish a Gigabit link.

@guarisma Some 10Gig network adapters or SFP modules will refuse to negotiate a 2.5 GigE connection on port 4 of the XB7 or XB8, although I have not heard of any that will not establish a 1 Gigabit link when connected to one of the other 1GigE ports on the gateway.
100 Mb/s connections are also common enough that Intel has a help article dedicated to troubleshooting that problem: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000058908/ethernet-products/intel-killer-et...
Also, what other devices have you tried testing with? Don't use an Ignite set-top box (Xi6 or XiOne) because they only have 100 Mb/s Fast Ethernet ports.
With my XB8, I can connect at full speeds on all ports.

ok, I changed the cable that goes to my Google Nest Pro Wifi and now the port is blinking green and it shows 1000Mbps, still the laptop shows amber/100Mbps but I think something is wrong with the driver.
Anyway, now the Speed Test through the Google Nest Pro Wifi shows 30Mbps Download from the WiFi, connection instead of 300+ Mbps

In Device Manager, click properties on the Ethernet Adapter and make sure the adapter is running at full duplex and all power saving and throttling features of the adapter are disabled. if you let Windows install the driver for the adapter, you might want to check the manufacturers website for the correct driver.
