WiFi 6 Compatible Modem

Lailo
I've been here awhile

Hi all, I just want to warn you about what Rogers does with their online ads that are misleading.

I switched from Fido to Rogers because Fido no longer provides internet service. I had the 150 Ignite plan and they sent me a refurbished XB6 that was making noise and had a poor Wi-Fi signal.

So, I requested a change, but to do that, I had to switch plans. I switched to a 1.5GB Ignite plan that Rogers advertises as having Wi-Fi 6E (6GHz) compatibility, which is compatible with my work PC.

However, they sent me a refurbished XB7 that only supports Wi-Fi 6 so, I called and they scheduled a new appointment with the technician to swap the XB7 with the XB8.

Today, the technician came with the XB8, but moments before installing it, he said that he couldn’t do it because I need a 2.5GB Ignite plan for that modem. This is not true since I have friends and cousins with the same plan and XB8 modem. Rogers is just wasting my time, that’s why they need to stop lying and misleading people with their ads. I’m still trying to get the XB8 installed since I work from home and would benefit from the 6GHz connection, but without any luck.

Good Day @Lailo 👋

We're glad to have you on board with us. I'm sorry to hear about the issues you've had with the XB6 modem that you received. We know how imperative it is to ensure you stay connected at all times. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you and thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

As the WiFi 6E is the XB8 Ignite WiFi Gateway and the WiFi 6 is the XB6 or XB7 Ignite WiFi Gateways, the availability is in fact determined by our inventory. In utter transparency, the model you receive may vary depending on services available for your address and availability on technician trucks.

We're currently low in stock of WiFi 6E XB8 gateways and depending on inventory, customers with higher tiers will either get the X7B or XB8 gateway. Until further notice, the XB8 gateway is restricted to our 2.5 GB Ignite plans if available.

Regards,

RogersJo
