Two modems on same account?

I was wondering if it would be possible to get two modems on the same account. We live in a townhouse and pulling a cat5 cable around would be too destructive or messy. If we could put a second modem on the account I could have wired internet in the basment where my office is.

Is this possible?

Nope, sorry, Rogers won't let you run two modems on the same account.  Maybe the rules for business customers would allow that?  Don't know, so either a moderator would have to indicate if thats allowed for business customers, or, you will have to contact the business group yourself to find out. 

If you have RG-6 cabling in your home, you could use MoCA adapters which connect ethernet systems to cable systems and vice versa.  With cabling throughout the home, you can use that cabling, with MoCA adapters to run ethernet over RG-6 cabling.  The drawback is the cost of the adapters plus the added cost of installing a MoCA splitter to replace your current splitter if in fact you have one installed and a MoCA filter on the inbound cable to prevent MoCA data from exiting the home, outbound to the neighbourhood.  The MoCA splitter and filter cost is minimal compared to the MoCA adapters.

The Gocoax adapter doesn't play well with existing MoCA networks such as the MoCA network used by the Nextbox Whole House PVR system, so, if you happen to have that in your home, running, then the Actiontec adapters would be the better choice.   If you don't have any other MoCA network running, as in no Whole Home PVR system or any other MoCA system, then the Gocoax adapters should work as designed. 

The cable splitter has to be a MoCA qualified splitter in order to support the higher MoCA frequencies in the internal ports.  Holland electronics makes MoCa 2.0 splitters:

So, hopefully this will provide some food for thought.  

The other way around this is to use wifi pods to run wifi far enough that it reaches your office.  MoCa adapter, although more expensive will provide much faster data rates.

Trust me on this, as much as fishing ethernet wires is a pain in the you know what, trust me on this, its soo worth it in the end. I did my house in 1999-2000 ran ether net wires all over the house before it was the cool thing to do. Yeah I had to break some drywall here and there. but you know what? you can easily minimize the amount of drywall you have to break if you study the house structure and find out which walls are ideal, or which ones have cold air return duct, etc.

some peoples house are even roughed in for central vac, and if u will never use it you can re-purpose the central vac pipes to run ethernet wires in them, my friend did this but make sure if u ever sell your home you let the new owner know you did this cus if they try to use it, aigh yeih yeih
