Rogers wifi strength of signal test vs TV settings indicator

nickdiamand
I plan to stick around

Hi, I recently installed a pod to boost the signal from my modem to the living room where I have my TV. Initially I got 3 bars TV box strength, then it settled to 2 & now it's back to 1.

When I conduct the signal strength test (in the living room) the modem, pod, TV box, android phone, printer, etc show a strong signal. However, when I check my "device" settings on the TV or press the "Rogers" button on my remote to display the wifi strength icon in bars, it indicates a "weak" signal" on my network & shows just 1 bar.

Can someone be so kind as to explain why there is a discrepancy & which one is correct? Thanks, Nick.

Good afternoon @nickdiamand!

I would not be worried about signal strength unless you're actively experiencing issues.

Are you having any issues with your Internet service on any of these devices? Is the service slow or does your TV picture/audio quality dip?

Hi, thanks so much for getting back to me. I was having ongoing issues w/ every device in the Living Room until I got the pod. Lately the TV strength has been showing 2 bars. I was mostly curious & wondering if my TV box needs replacing. No issues lately except for the one everybody has if they want to watch Bill Maher 8pm Saturday on CNN!! Thanks again, Nick.
