Rogers enhancing the network in my neighbourhood

Hwaiting
I plan to stick around

I got an email that Rogers will be enhancing the network in my neighbourhood that will result in a some interruptions in the coming weeks.

Anyone know what kind of work is being done? It doesn't really go into details other than say they are bringing a faster network. They provided this link but it's general.

I'm really hoping that this has something to do with finally bringing FTTH but the fact that we are in the dead of winter makes me doubtful.

@Hwaiting  Looks like Rogers is planning to either upgrade the fibre node in your area or perform a "node split" to increase capacity in your area, or both.  I have seen them do this work in the most miserable of weather conditions.

If you see crews actually installing new equipment in cabinets on your street, try to find out what specific equipment they are installing.  If they are installing Casa DA2200 nodes, don't get too excited.  If they are installing either Harmonic or Vecima gear, they may be prepping for a DOCSIS 4.0 rollout.  Will also be interesting to see if they install a CommScope node in your neighbourhood -- CommScope bought Casa's Cable division assets after they went bankrupt last year.  What gets installed may shed light on Rogers' DOCSIS 4.0 technical plans.
