Internet Data Usage

On 2 October I switched from the Flex 10 bundle package to the Ultimate bundle. My internet data usage prior to this switch averaged about 2 GB daily. Immediately after the switch my average data usage jumped 10 times to about 20 GB daily . My daily equipment use has not changed. I wonder if the usage statistics now include the data used by the TV box whereas it did not on my previous plan. According to the numbers on MyRogers I've now used more data in the last week than I previously normally used in 3 months. I called technical support yesterday but they don't see any unusual activity. I know the plan provides for unlimited use but the increase is really strange.

@Lorne4 : I encountered something similar earlier this year. I didn't post, rather I sent the following quote via PM to the mods on this forum.

After a few more clarification PMs, including usage screenshots, after a few months, my usage is back (roughly) to what it was (2-5 GB/day).

Starting March 31 2024, the date of my change to 1.5 Gbps from 500 Mbps, the typical Internet usage went up by a factor of 30.  I typically use about 2-5 GB per day for the past few years.  I can check this using the Activity Monitor on my Mac Mini M2 E10 computer and my usage patterns have not changed.  It has been this way for a long time.  The indicated usage is more than 100 GB/day or about 30 times what it was previously.  I realize that I'm on an unlimited plan, however, I should be able to compare my daily and monthly usage and it should be accurate.

I'm not sure if either number is totally accurate, but I'm now back in line with what I was before the change.

PS. The Ignite usage does include the data used by the box, but it does so for both your cases.

Thanks for your reply 57 and clarification that the usage does include the data used by the box in both cases. I'll just keep an eye on it and hope that it will eventually rectify itself as it did in your case.

Just to be clear, I don't think it rectified itself.  The mods contacted technical support and they performed the rectification.  It took a bit over a month for daily usage to return to "normal".
