Recover Home Phone #

Guinny
I've been here awhile

I called Rogers to enquire about cell phone data usage. After clarifying my query the CSR advised me that my internet/landline plan was no longer available and I had to switch to Xfinity. The plan was switched to Xfinty and I received box within a week. After setting up the box as per instructions I found my landline was disconnected. I called Rogers and the CSR told me I cannot have a landline unless I add TV to my plan. I never had TV in my original plan and the agent never told TV was a requirement to have a landline. I am now trying to port my landline # to another provider as I don't want TV and being told my number has been disconnected. How do I recover my landline #. The number is used by doctors/banks etc to contact us. How can I recover my to get it ported?

Hi Guinny,

That is indeed very strange/odd and goes against the experience my parents have with Rogers.

My parents have Rogers Xfinity Internet and Rogers XfinityHome phone (formerly known as Rogers Ignite)  but they do NOT have Rogeres Xfinity TV (formerly Ignite TV)

So it seems somewhere down the line there was a miscommunication as it is entirely possible in my opinion to have Rogers Xfinity Internet and Home Phone WITHOUT TV.

Good day @Guinny,

Thank you for posting about your recent experience, We appreciate you took the time to bring this up to our attention.

If I understad correctly, you are not interested in retaining Xfinity TV services, in order to keep your home phone number with Rogers, and would like it reactivated in order for you to be able to port it out to another service provider. Is that right?

Has the situation evolved since you posted? If this has yet to be resolved, we'd like the opportunity to make things right.

I am still waiting for a response from Rogers.

I'm an advisor

You can only port out a number you have service for.  Because the number has been disconnected.  You do not have the number to port.  This is probably why you haven't received an answer on the issue.  A disconnected number puts the number back into the pool of numbers to be assigned.  If that number was origianlly ported in from another provider.  That number might revert to the provider it originally was assigned by.

I do no understand why Rogers cancelled my land line without my permission. I was paying for the service. As Rogers records all phone calls I suggest you go through the recordings and check if your CSR at any stage informed me prior to switching to xfinty without TV that my landline would be disconnected. I need the number restored asap as it the main contact # for doctors/banks and other essential services.

You should call and speak to a manager immediately.  The representative made an error, they should not have disconnected your landline number.  You should call right away and let the manager know that the agent disconnected you in error and you want your number back asap.
