Use Wi-Fi Calling to stay connected in areas where a mobile signal may be limited. All you need is a Wi-Fi signal! This may include basements, tall buildings and condos. Keep reading to learn how.

Getting Started:

iPhone users

Go into your phone settings and do the following:

  1. Select Phone.
  2. Select Wi-Fi Calling.
  3. Turn on Wi-Fi Calling.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions if it is your first time doing this. The status bar will display “Rogers Wi-Fi” when Wi-Fi Calling is ready to use.

Android users

If you want to activate Wi-Fi Calling now, make sure your phone’s software is up to date and then visit www.rogers.com/AndroidWiFi from your smartphone browser.

If you want more in-depth detail about how to activate Wi-Fi Calling, please see the steps below:

NOTE: Instructions may slightly vary depending on device model.

  1. Select the Phone icon on your phone’s main screen.
  2. Select More in the top-right corner. It may look like an icon showing 3 dots in a vertical line.
  3. Select Settings or Call Settings. The label will vary depending on your phone model.
  4. Select Wi-Fi Calling on the resulting screen.
  1. If you’re already registered for Wi-Fi Calling, move the Wi-Fi Calling toggle switch to the ON position, and you’re done! If it’s your first time enabling Wi-Fi Calling, click  on the link to register for Wi-Fi Calling and follow the remaining steps:
  1. Enter your phone number and select Get Verification Code to receive a text message with your verification code.
  2. Input the verification code and press Submit.
  3. Accept the Terms and Conditions after you submit your verification code.
  4. Enter your emergency address and press Continue.
  5. You should now see 2 versions of your emergency address: One version shows your address exactly as you just entered it, and the other is a Canada Post-recommended version of your address. Select the version you want to use (we recommend using Canada Post’s version). Once your address is verified, you’ll receive a text message confirming that your registration is complete.
  6. Connect to your local Wi-Fi network, go back to your phone’s call settings screen and then toggle the Wi-Fi Calling switch to the ON position. The status bar will display the Wi-Fi Calling icon when Wi-Fi Calling is ready to use.

After this, you’re all set! All of your calls and texts will go over Wi-Fi when you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Do I need a specific phone or plan to use Wi-Fi Calling?

Yes. To use Wi-Fi Calling, you will need the following:

  • A monthly postpaid voice and data wireless plan. Prepaid customers can’t use Wi-Fi Calling.
  • An LTE or 5G SIM installed in your device.
  • iPhone: an iPhone 5c or any later iPhone model with iOS 9 or later installed - remember to update your carrier settings when prompted to do so at the end of the OS installation.
  • Android: a compatible phone with Android 6.0.1 or later installed. Most Android phones from late 2015 and onwards are compatible.
  • The Wi-Fi Calling feature enabled on your device.

If you have these things, make sure your device’s Wi-Fi Calling feature is switched on so you can make calls and send messages over Wi-Fi.

For iPhone, your compatible device must have been purchased from Rogers. If you have a non-Rogers iPhone and no conflicting services, Wi-Fi Calling may work, but we can’t ensure that the feature will work properly on your device. If you have a non-Rogers Android device, Wi-Fi Calling will not work.
