Several of our most popular transactions are now available via self-serve. People may need to change their phone number for a variety of reasons, so we’ve made it easy for you to do this via your MyRogers profile on Rogers.com.

Keep on reading to learn about how to do the change and what to keep in mind before making a wireless number change.

First, keep in mind:

  • Your account balance must be in good standing for you to change your wireless number.
  • Changing your wireless number is free when you use the self-serve option in MyRogers. A $45 charge applies if you change your wireless number through a customer care representative.
  • You'll need to set up a new voicemail and greeting, and saved messages cannot be transferred to a new number.
  • By changing your phone number during your billing cycle, your airtime minutes, add-ons and monthly plan charges will be distributed between your old number and new one.
  • If you’re not sure whether your new number will incur long distance charges, visit Local Calling Areas, Long Distance & Call Forwarding.

To change a wireless number:

  1.  Sign into MyRogers.
  2. Select the wireless number you’d like to change.
  3. Under Quick links, select Change my wireless number.
  4. Choose the province and city where you’ll be making most of your calls, then select Find available numbers.
  5. Choose a phone number from the options listed, then select Next. For more number options you can select View other numbers. However, keep in mind you won’t be able to go back to the current list of numbers displayed.
  6. Take a moment to review the details of your number change.
  7. To complete your number change, select Submit.
  8. Wireless number changes are effective immediately. You’ll receive an email and a text message once the change has been completed.

To start using your new wireless number, simply power your phone off, then power it back on.

I've been here awhile

Thanks for the info.

Even if changing the number to the same area code via MyRogers, is it still free of charge?

FOR EXAMPLE, Toronto to Toronto ,  647xxxxxxx to 647xxxxxxx or 647xxxxxxx to 416xxxxxxx

Thanks.

The way I read the original post, you don't get charged as long as you make the change via MyRogers.  One needs to be careful when choosing the province/city, so that you don't end up with Long Distance charges.  Read the link in post 1 carefully on that topic.

Someone should be able to confirm this shortly.

Hello @Greg2021!

Thanks for your comment on our blog and for joining us in the Rogers community! We hope you like it here. 🙂

There's definitely nothing wrong with wanting some further clarification! I can confirm that @57 is absolutely correct--as long as you complete the wireless telephone number change online via self-serve using your MyRogers profile, then there is no charge to do so. Charges only apply if doing the telephone number change with an agent.

Just a few friendly reminders:

- We’re not able to transfer saved messages.
- Your old number can’t be recovered.
- You’ll need to set up a new voicemail.
- Your number can only be changed up to 5 times within your bill cycle.
- You can’t switch to a number from another carrier using self-serve so you would need to reach out to our customer service team for further assistance with that.

Hope this helps!

Hello! I have signed in via myRogers profile but under quick links, there is no option to select Change my wireless number. I don't want to pay the fee by calling in but I have searched myRogers profile and there is no option to change online. Can anyone help?

Good day @casseggs!

Thanks for flagging this for us--I did a quick check and I no longer see the option to do a telephone number change under 'Quick Links' when logged into MyRogers online! Something must have changed so we'll need to investigate this further at our end.

In the meanwhile, would you be so kind as to send us a PM so we can assist you further? For more information on how our Private Messaging system works, please check out our blog

Thank you!

Hello, @champpy.

Thank you for joining this discussion, and welcome to our Community. When you try certain functions, like changing the telephone number through the MyRogers app, it will open up the device’s default browser to complete the transaction. You may get errors like you mentioned when certain browser components are blocked.

You may want to try a desktop browser to change your telephone number. If the problem persists, please send us a private message at @CommunityHelps. You can find details about our private messaging in this blog

Cheers,

RogersMoin
