In case of account holder death how to transfer account to spouse

wreedijk
I've been here awhile

My father passed away in March. He was/is the account holder for the Rogers account services which included telephone, cable and internet. We would like to transfer the account (keeping everything the same) to my mother.

Prior to his death I had level-one authorizaton to advocate on his behalf but now Rogers support will not speak to / authorize me.

What is the procedure for changing the account holder to my mother (who is also the estate executor)? What documents need to be provided, where do they need to be sent, etc.

I assume that the account can be transferred rather than cancelling and creating a new account.

Thanks

Good afternoon @wreedijk,

Please accept my condolences. I understand this is a difficult time for your family and I'd like to make sure your dealings with us don't add any additional aggravations.

You have assumed correctly, you can transfer responsibility of this account if you have executor status.

We need to gather and document the following:

  • The name and contact information of the person calling
  • The name and contact of the legal representative or anyone in an equivalent capacity (if different than the caller)
  • Date of death

Before an account can be transferred, any owing balance must first be paid off in full.

Once that is done and we've collected the necessary information, we can help you with a Transfer of Responsibility (TOR).

Please feel free to send a private message to @CommunityHelps so we can assist you further with this request. For more information on how our Private Messaging system works, you can find out more here.

Regards,

RogersCorey
