Rogers Did Not Transfer Account Into My Name

KingDalkian
I've been here awhile

Called in with my dad so I could have togers put under my name to help build my credit. At no point did the agent ask for any ID, 2 years later turns out they have a policy of not switching till they get new IDs. Would of help if someone told me about it. I am currently facing eviction and would love to just move, despite paying my bills on time my credit is not moving close to fast enough and now thanks to 2 years of payments to rogers u found out I built up my dad's credit instead. Odds are I will be homeless soon in ontario and have to move back in with my dad out east or just be a vagrant. Thanks Rogers

@KingDalkian  I'm really, really sorry to hear about your current situation, and I truly hope that things get better for you.

When you went through this process, years ago, was it a fairly quick conversation with the Rogers agent or was it a fairly lengthy and involved process?

It's a trivial process to get added to the account as an authorized contact.  That will allow you to make changes to the account on the owner's behalf, contact Rogers for support, etc.

It's a much more involved process to perform a Change of Ownership or a Transfer of Responsibility.  You are changing the legal ownership of the account, severing the financial responsibilities of the previous owner and transferring them to the new owner.  As an integral part of the process, Rogers needs to verify your identity, perform a credit check, and report the change of ownership of the account to credit agencies.

If the Rogers bill has your name on it, it may be possible to get your past payments recognized and reflected in your credit history.  If the Rogers bill still has your father's name on it, I think that you are stuck, at least as far as using Rogers to build your credit score goes.
