Changing phone numbers

I see that if you use the self serve option online to change a phone number that it’s more cost effective. What is the price to do it self serve versus the $35?

If you are looking for a phone number within the same area code or region, there may be a $35 one-time fee. For a different area, there is no charge.

You can change your wireless number online using MyRogers. Once you click on "Change My Number" you'll be put in touch with a Live Chat agent that will further assist you. The charge will be adjusted by the Live Chat agent during your chat session.

Keep in mind:

• You may need to change/update your price plan.
• If you have voicemail, it will be reset.

I have been trying to change my phone number for a week now and it won't let me change it by myself through Myrogers. They have indicated that if you use a Rogers representative/ specialist assistance there is a $50 charge. Is this a Rogers trick to make me pay the unnecessary $50? They indicate it's free if you do it yourself but then prevent me from doing it myself. This is irritating!
