Removing Crave from Favorites

I cancelled Crave.

I want to remove it from Favourites.

I follow instructions but it does not give me the "Remove Favourite: option. Only Subscribe  Record and Channel Info.

I have tried on the Favourites view and the All Channels view.

How can I remove it form Favourites???

Great question.  To remove a favourite, arrow left to the channel name (when listing your favourite channels) and hit OK - Remove Favourite.  It can only be done that way, by selecting the channel name from a TV Listings screen and arrowing left to select the channel name.  I can imagine that's frustrating.

There is another easy way. Open the IgniteTV app on a device, or the IgniteTV website on a computer. Bring up the all channel list. At the left you will see a "star" next to each channel.  Select or deselect the star to create or delete a favourite channel.  This makes it very easy if you're doing more than one channel.

As I said, I followed the instructions and did as you say but the channels are still there, It only offers Subscribe, Record and Channel Info.

I went Ignite online and whoopee, it is gone on that listing but...it is still on my TV channel listing. 😞

If you ever have things not show up correctly on a box, pull the power on the TV box and reboot it.  You can do it from the remote - Press A, Restart - Select Restart again.  It will re-load the box and usually fix issues with the channels or other issues.  It works for me, when I make changes.

I believe you didn't go far enough to the left. When you bring up the guide, on that channel click the left arrow (not the one beside the mic button), until the channel itself is highlighted as far left as you can go.  Then press select and you should get the Watch, Record, Remove Favourite, Default Channel, Channel Info. options.

The changes made online or in the app should be reflected in the box listings - perhaps takes a few minutes or you may need to reboot the box.

@schmidtp That is very strange. I don't even see where those options you mention come up.  I want to again repeat that you need to bring up the guide on the igniteTV box, scroll to the left all the way highlighting the channel, when you press select with the channel highlighted, you should get the required options to set or unset favourite channels.

Perhaps you could give the Ignite remote to someone else and then provide these instructions to them.  Sometimes when people do the same thing again and again, muscle memory takes over, whereas a new individual may find the true path.  I know this has happened to me on occasion and when it does, I give the remote (or device) to my wife and read the instructions to her.  (last happened to me when I was attempting to programme a particular function into a phone.)

Yeah, well, I did as you and others have said.

I have unplugged the set top box, I have done a restart and a system refresh.

I scroll till I am at the Crave (or HBO) channel. I the select and push enter and up comes Subscribe, Record, Channel Info.

I got my Wife to do it and she gets the same.

I have 2 set top boxes and both are the same.

Online and in the app, the Crave and HBO do not show any more.

@schmidtp  We may be dealing with a software bug.  When a channel is unsubscribed, selecting the channel in the Guide does not allow you to add it to Favourites or remove it from Favourites.

Favourite channels are stored centrally so that they can be synced across all devices.  You would think that when there are any changes to your channel lineup that any unsubscribed channels would get automatically removed from Favourites.

Have you tried performing a System Refresh?  To do this, press the A button on your remote or go to the Help section in Settings.  Select "System Refresh" and press OK.

If that does not work, try contacting Support and ask if they can create a ticket for the Ignite TV support specialists to clear the Favourites channels for your account.  (You can also make this request by sending a private message to @CommunityHelps )  The Ignite TV support team should also file a bug report for this issue with Comcast.

@CommunityHelps Do you have any other ideas?  This sort of thing could happen when a customer sets a free preview channel channel as a favourite and then loses access to the channel when the preview ends.

I thought of that yesterday when making suggestions, so I went to a channel that is not subscribed, but the "correct" menu comes up and is the same as for subscribed channels.

I also tried different guide options like All channels, HD channels, Free to me, Favourites, etc. Again, the "correct" menu always came up.  I'm at a loss beyond the suggestions already provided, and a system restart, etc.

As far as I know, the menu that you see depends on whether or not the unsubscribed channel has a "Subscribe" option.

If I select channel 168 from the All Channels Guide view (CTV Vancouver; I do not subscribe to Canadian Timeshifting), I only see "Subscribe, Record, and Channel Info" options.

If I select channel 886 (The Africa Channel), I get the "Watch, Record, Favourite, Default Channel, and Channel Info" options.

When you are subscribed to Crave, selecting channel 265 (Crave 1) gives you the standard "Watch, Record, Favourite, Default Channel, and Channel Info" options.

Got it.  Coincidentally, I had been using 886 (Africa) as my test for an unsubscribed channel...

Interestingly, the System Refresh is not working for the past few days. I try and get the message "Sorry we're having some trouble" and to call the rogers number.

This problem is more an annoyance than anything.

I have tried everything everybody has suggested and I just cannot get Crave and HBO off the favourites list on my TV. As I said, on the app and online, they are gone but on the tv guide, there they are.

I will call rogers when I have a couple hours to spare while waiting for the tech help 🙂

I also had issues doing a Restart using the Home Connect App, however, when I looked at the gateway, the lights were indeed going through their reboot sequence, so perhaps it runs despite the error message.  Good luck.

Instead of spending time on the phone, you can PM the mods on this forum.  Here are the instructions:

I have had this aggravating issue.  The only way to unfavorite something you've previously subscribed to, such as Crave, is to temporarily re-subscribe to it, unfavorite the channel, and then immediately unsubscribe again. As was previously mentioned, this is only a problem for channels which can be subscribed within the guide, so if it doesn't offer that option, you may be able to unfavorite as with other channels.

I had a similar situation, where a favourite was a channel I no longer subscribe to.  I was able to remove it, on the Guide, by first selecting the favourites view of channels.  Then, nagivate left until the channel name is highlighted in white (with the star beside the name) and then press Select.  The Remove Favourite choise was listed, I selected it and the channel "star" disappeared.   I only then needed to refresh the Favoruites view (press Guide - choose Favourites again) and the channel was gone.

I was communicating with rogers by email and they finally gave up and sent a technician. He was here for an hour and was speaking with tech support in Toronto. They could not fix it.

I told them about the suggestion to re subscribe Crave , delete it form favourites and cancel Crave as you both suggested. They actually did that from the Toronto end and ...TaaaDaaa!!! It worked.
