Multiple recordings of the same program

BarryC604
I plan to stick around

I have read multiple posts on the issue of Ignite recording the same program multiple times.

The issue I have is I set to record series on Channel 109 (Vancouver ) to tape Jeopardy.  BUT Ignite records multiple of the SAME episode.   IT records not only Channel 109 but also from other channels that broadcast Jeopardy.

I have looked at the Record options and there is none that specifies a specific Channel...

What will it take for Rogers to recognize and fix such issues.  Multiple recording of the same show from different Channels.  The previous legacy 'boxes' recorded a specific Channel and a specific Time Slot.  BUT Ignite is

primitive in this regards....a step backwards....Annoying to say the least.

@BarryC604 :  There are a couple of ways around this.

1. Go to the Guide and find the timeslot and channel and of your desired programme.  Click it and then set a series recording. When you set up the series you will be presented with various options like "new", etc and there will be an option for "channels".  Scroll to the (right?) channel you want instead of all.

2. Go to your series recordings you have already set and find the problem recording. Edit the recording and you'll find thee same "channel" option as described above.  Select the channel you want.

Be advised that if you choose a high channel number for a specific broadcaster, the recording will be set on the lowest channel number available in the guide, but the broadcaster and the programming should be the same.

3. There ia an option when setting/editing your recordings for the number of recordings you wish to keep.  If you watch a programme each day, simply set this to one or two and you will only have one or two recordings of the same programme.

Thanks, 57.   I missed your post as it went into my spam folder.   And after messing about, I did find on the record options for Channels there is SD Preferred or HD preferred or the Channel that you are watching/tuned to.   To avoid multiple recordings of the same show/episode I choose the option for the Channel I am tuned to.

I'm here a lot

Thanks very much for the great advice. I checked the link to Resident Expert. Seems to me the compensation (not money, I know) you get from Rogers for your valuable service is inadequate. I looked long and hard in vain for the answer to this issue in Rogers' feeble Help system. Maybe you could give Rogers some important feedback on improving their Help system. Their system seems aimed at helping people to do things but not undo, cancel or modify what they've done.

I've been here awhile

I had ignite installed 2 weeks ago and having the same problem over and over again.  eg. I want to schedule SURVIVOR on Global Channel 3 only new episodes on Wednesday @ 8:00PM.  I have timeshifting and what pops up to record is every channel SURVIVOR is on from Halifax Toronto Calgary Edmonton to Vancouver.  I had a technician at my apartment and the situation is there is a glitch in ignite and because subscribers are not complaining, Rogers will do nothing about the problem.. I have the same issue with other programs such as DATELINE and 20/20 and Friday evenings.  Even though I set recordings on CITY, GLOBAL, CHCH every program for every time zone gets scheduled.  I am so angry and frustrated.  I had legacy from the beginning of time and never had any issues.

@luvmywee10z : 1. Delete any scheduled future recordings for your desired programme.

2. Read point one of my previous post on the topic:

https://communityforums.rogers.com/t5/Ignite-TV/Multiple-recordings-of-the-same-program/m-p/523065/h...

Go to the Guide and find the timeslot and channel and of your desired programme (in this case Global on Wednesday, 8PM).  Click it and then set a series recording. When you set up the series you will be presented with various options like "new", etc and there will be an option for "channels".  Scroll to the (right?) channel you want in this case Global) instead of all.

OMG...your solution seems to have worked. Not even the senior technician who came to fix this issue was aware of scrolling to the right on the CHANNELS selection until the specific channel appeared. Thank you so so much. I have numerous other problems with ignite (name changing next week !!!) but will deal with them another time. Thanx again... you're brilliant.
