As of a few days ago, my Onkyo AVR is reporting that its incoming audio from the Xi6-T is now Multichannel PCM, rather than Dolby Digital Plus. This is when I select Best Available on the box, selecting Expert Mode still shows DD+. What's the difference between these two, and which delivers the better signal to the AVR? Thanks.

MCPCM is typically an uncompressed form of audio, as previously available on say some Blu-ray discs that featured concert material or other music. So if there are the same number of channels in that signal, it should be superior to DD, which is compressed. MCPCM typically requires an HDMI connection directly to the AVR.
2-channel PCM was typically used for CDs. MCPCM was also used on SACDs
Similar uncompressed formats on BDs were DTS-MA and Dolby TrueHD.
