Cell phone data speed

Why has 5G speed dropped from 50 Mbps to 0.5 Mbps in areas just north of Peterborough? Data is so slow it’s practically useless might as well declare it down. Speed on 5G and LTE dropped starting late June.

Hello, @Gumbey.

Thank you for being our Community member and reporting the slow data speeds.

The speed dropping to that low can be pretty inconvenient. You can check the network status and report the issue through the MyRogers app > Support tab > Network Aid. This can also be done online: Network Help & Outages.

Please feel free to contact our tech support team, including sending a private message to CommunityHelps, as outlined in this blog, so that we can check the network status.

Regards,

RogersMoin

I have a cell plan that has advertised download speeds of up to 250 mbps. I suspect the rogers 5g home internet service is robing cell phone customers of our bandwidth. I talked to a sales rep at rogers and he said 5g home internet gets priority when system gets overloaded. Doesn’t seem right I’m supposed to get speeds up to 250 mbs and they have speeds up to 100 mbs yet they get faster and more consistent speeds.

Re: Cell phone data speed

@Gumbey did you get a chance to check the network status and report the issue as recommended? Additionally, were you able to get in touch with the wireless tech support team for the speed issues?
