Xfinity viewing on computer - link won't work

morganmargaret1
I've been around

I always used to watch my Ignite recorded shows on my computer.  with the change to Xfinity, the link does not work, and yes I've tried incognito mode both in Chrome and Safari.

I can't post the link that is provided on the Rogers website. grrrr

Such an easy thing to test when making these changes but yet more issues of stuff we pay for but don't receive.

Works fine for me - just tried it again.  See link below from yesterday, including the appropriate website link:

https://communityforums.rogers.com/t5/Internet/Rogers-Xfinity/m-p/536236/highlight/true#M80304

One person who had issues in that thread deleted his cookies and it worked, however, Incognito should bypass cookies. Try again - worked for people after a few more tries (perhaps after some time passed)?

Yes, worked for me yesterday using Firefox after I deleted Rogers cookies. But  it didn't work today when I tried using the same url a few minutes ago unless I used incognito mode (private browsing). Deleting Rogers cookies again didn't work this time.  The following "new" url worked after I set this site to be trusted in my ad blocker.

https://rogersxfinitystream.rogers.com/

I see now there was also an Xfinity cookie from yesterday but I didn't try deleting that first. Anyway everything seems fine now in Firefox and Edge.

It didn't work on Chrome the first time I opened the page but works fine on MS Edge. There is a clitch on Roger's side, but like Apple they customer blame saying it cannot possibly be their problem. Same thing happened with Disney Plus, didn't work for the longest time until suddenly it did.

Although it can be Rogers issue, if the website works on one browser and not another, then it's usually something related to your computer browser - like a bad cookie, or cache, or browser extension. Did you try Chrome Incognito?  If that works, then it's a cookie or cache issue.  Here's a list of things that cause website issues:

Yesterday I had an issue with the Hyatt website on Chrome. Tried incognito mode as a test and it worked, so I deleted Hyatt cookies on Chrome and the website worked fine again.

It is not working for me.  I tried to delete all cookies.  All it des is buffering with message "Now Connecting to your entertainment experience"  Same with using firefox.  Very frustrating.

@krist8 : Does it work on the Xfinity Stream app on a phone or tablet?  Did you look at the other items that can affect websites?  Did you try incognito/private mode?  Link again below:

Does exactly the same for me until I pause my ad blocker.

@Lorne4 : Thank you for that.  Adblockers are specifically mentioned in the link I provide. Interestingly, I use Adblock Plus on Chrome on my Mac Mini M2 without problems.  ABP can also be disabled for specific websites.

I always have a totally unmodified (clean) browser on my computer to test with "problem" websites.  If that works, then the issue is almost always with your other browser settings/extensions, etc.

I finally figured that out.

Thanks for all the responses.  I did not have Adblock in chrome or Firefox.  What I eventually stumble upon is that my Nordvpn has set adbock on, although Nordvpn is not on.  After clicking it off, it works.

I'm having the same problem with Google Chrome. I was able to get it to work on Firefox. I still want it fixed on Google but hope this helps you.

Found out Chrome was not working because of my Ad Blocker

Having the same issue! Ignite was never a problem but now xfinity just sits and 'tries' to connect. I was on the phone with Rogers for 50 minutes last night, deleted cookies, restarted Chrome, tried Chrome ingonito, tried Edge, paused VPN and in the end she suggested I load Firefox. WHY?? Test it and make sure it work with all platforms or get a dedicated app like Prime Video does. Oh it worked on her computer so it's my issue. It does works on Apple iPhone and iPad but I'm not watching a tv show on my phone!  It's bad enough going from a 70" to 17" laptop. So now at the cottage I can't watch live or taped Roger items. Bell just dropped fibre this year at the cottage and maybe next year it will be a time to bring it in the driveway and change at both locations - home and cottage.suppor

I've been looking for clues as to why I can't connect to xfinity whereas ignite was never a problem. So "Ad Blocker" got my attention. I use NordVPN and paused the "Ad and tracker blocker" and I FINALLY got into xfinity. However when I click on the guide for a typical non restricted channel like CBCNewsnetwork [15] it goes through the 'attempting to resume' message finally stopping at 'this video cannot be played'. Same with CTVNews. REALLY! I do however now have access to taped items - guess that's better than nothing. STILL issues for Rogers to fix! Whenever something new is introduced PLEASE go through a destructive testing process and/or introduce into specific small markets to get the bugs out of it first.

Turn off VPN “Threat Protection Pro” selections (3), whether VPN is on or off, and TV streaming works !

Such ridiculousness!

I am tired of jumping through hoops.

The app does not work, the streaming does not work, as my UN states...

Streaming does work on a browser on a computer and also using the app, however, many people have not done the appropriate troubleshooting as discused earlier in this thread and have various extensions like adblockers or bad cookies that cause issues..

For example, on a computer, use a different browser, or turn on private/incognito mode in your current browser and the link should work just fine.  Here's a link with additional tips for browsers and also for some apps:

@User8305 : Did you try running a different browser, or your existing browser in private or Incognito mode?  This tests to ensure you have cookie or cache issues.  See my link in my previous post for other tips like VPN, adblockers, etc.
